Pros

CEF has incredible free resources for teachers and support for teachers and works to connect schools and students with chemical industry members to increase interest in and excitement about STEM subjects in school and STEM careers. I appreciate that the Executive Director values the input of their staff and regularly recognizes the work we do. Coming from a nonprofit with a far less stable funding base, I appreciate the stability and dedication of the core funders (primarily chemical industry corporations).

Cons

Going through a period of growth and transition, expectations for all staff are very high and the work is stressful. Sometimes feels like we're fluctuating between donor maintenance and mission-focus, need to stay truly mission-focused.

Good Colleagues, Terrible Management

Pros

Mission oriented, good location, fair benefits, good colleagues

Cons

Consistently poor management, lack of knowledge of industry and education, no support for employees, employees severely underpaid and work is never recognized, always understaffed, board does not step in when needed even when they know there is a problem. Programs have a lot of potential but new management is needed.
