Pros

-if you need job, it's a job. If you're young, take the job if you need experience. -more cross-training than a larger lab. -if you work in certain departments (mercury, metal digestion) it's very relaxed most of the time.

Cons

-Good luck if you work for Metals or VOA. Lots of long hours during busy season -lack of OT. fortunately I got it when I filed for backpay. -expect you to drop everything right away to complete new task but there is lack of notice when you're furloughed. makes it hard to plan vacations -ghetto appearance against comparable labs in the state. -poor benefits/advancement opportunities. a good number of people here are older with nowhere else to go. -lack of care for environment (seriously, a freakin ENVIRONMENTAL company has no recycle bin in the break room?)

The only pros is that you can get some experience

Long hours. They want you to work past 8 hours almost everyday and don't care about your family time or personal time. They get angry if you take a personal day or sick leave. very difficult to plan vacation. Pay is very low for the amount of work and stress. For them clients are above employees.

We value our employees very much and we do our best to provide them with a safe, comfortable and healthy environment. We review our employees at least once a year and give them an average of 9% raises. Although we do our best to communicate with our clients and schedule the jobs, unfortunately due to the nature of our business, we never know what comes thru the door and how the work load is on any given day. And you are right, our clients are very important to us. Without clients we won’t be in business. Having said that, we highly value our employees and we understand fully that without our great and dedicated employees, we can not provide such great services. We work very diligently to provide our staff with times off and work with their schedule as well.
