Pros

The employees of CFCU are second to none. They really care about the members. Their work ethic is second to none. They are the single best and only reason to work here and I miss them often. Working from home is great and I think it is exceptional at CFCU because of the amazing IT team. All the employees here are great, but the competence of IT stands out compared to other places I have worked.

Cons

CFCU does not care about its employees. I hate to make such a sweeping statement but before you dismiss such a strong statement, consider my glowing review of the employees in comparison to my rating of the company. In fact, knowing the employees makes this sin much greater because I know how valuable they are. The pay is poor overall but it is exceptionally poor in functional areas that upper management does not deem important. Not all departments are equal at CFCU and not only in terms of pay. These "unimportant" departments are frequently understaffed and given no real career progression opportunities. Promotions are almost impossible to get and when they come, they are miniscule in best-case scenarios and patronizing in the worst. Imagine feeling insulted by something management called a promotion... I saw it happen multiple times to multiple people I respect. To be fair, career progression is VERY hard in all departments. My most common reaction to a colleague announcing a promotion was/is sadness... because they probably deserved it 5 years before it happened. CFCU does send out employee surveys and they do pretend to care about the results but there are 2 problems. Suffice to say that the first is a conflict of interest that I cannot expand upon here, which significantly invalidates the results, in some but not all cases. Also, the managers (often even senior managers) have no power to affect change, so what is the point? In summary, they do not reward loyalty, competence, hard work, nor long hours caused by staffing shortages (some intentional, many not). There is so much politics that it is exhausting. Some people climb the ranks seemingly inexplicably while plenty of rock stars get words and nothing else.

I cannot begin to address the concerns of this person. If they truly are an employee of the company I urge them to stand up and speak to me so we can work through their concerns. Their damaging comments remind me of the book Who Moved My Cheese. All organizations go through change, this is inevitable and healthy. However, these changes can be frustrating to employees that don't agree with the changes. As an organization, I need to do a better job of engaging our people in this process. To articulate the compelling reasons for the change(s) and how this will impact their roles. Aside from this, some relevant facts include: - we consult with one of the largest compensation and benefits firms in the country to ensure are compensating our people well and taking care of their needs. I consider this a priority. - We do listen and take action on our People's perspectives and opinions. In fact, I wish we received more feedback and insight from our People. - The statement the CFCU does not care about its People is simply false. Ultimately, I truly wish this person well and hope they find what they are looking for.

I personally get disappointed when I see reviews like this (for any company) as this person apparently was in a role that wasn't a good fit for them and they didn't reach out for help. The facts are, our members are very happy with our services, employee engagement and satisfaction climbs every year, the business outlook is strong and frankly very exciting. This data is shared with our people, our members, and our Board. Any contrary statements are purely fabricated. So what brings an alleged "former employee" who states they worked for less than one year? I truly wish I knew and I honestly hope my Team and I can be there for the next person. Take care and good luck.

I am truly surprised that Glassdoor.com does not put any time or effort into validating reviews. This is extremely concerning to me as a representative to a Team of People who work so hard every day to service our members. Reviews such as this only undermine their efforts. Glassdoor's recommendation to me is to respond with an employer response, so here it goes..... Thank you for taking the time to share your experience working at CFCU. We greatly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continuously improve our workplace environment and employee satisfaction. However, we must respectfully disagree with some of the points you raised, as they do not accurately reflect our company's policies and practices. At CFCU, we pride ourselves on offering a competitive compensation and benefits package that is designed to support and empower our employees. Regarding personal time off, our policies far exceed the minimum legal requirements for sick leave. We offer a generous and flexible PTO program that allows our employees to manage their time off as needed, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. Our compensation targets are carefully benchmarked against market standards, ensuring that we remain competitive in attracting and retaining top talent. Additionally, our comprehensive benefits package is diverse and designed to meet the varying needs of our employees. We are proud to maintain a low attrition rate and high employee engagement, which is a testament to our commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment. While we understand that your experience may not have met your expectations, we want to assure prospective candidates that CFCU is dedicated to providing a rewarding and fulfilling career experience for all our employees. Thank you once again for your feedback, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors.
