Pros

Interesting subject matter; some excellent colleagues

Cons

Terrible workplace culture and openly hostile work environment. Withhold benefits offered citywide as a way of controlling their employees (e.g. the city offers hybrid work, but the OIG does not; the city offers early release the day before a Federal holiday, the OIG refuses). People who give critical feedback are deemed "unprofessional" and written off entirely.

Pros

High integrity and a job with meaning. People have lots of knowledge and want to make a difference.

Cons

Very high turnover with no upward movement. Attorneys valued above others. An environment that feels very sterile, rigid, presumptuous, super politically correct and CYA. Most executive staff are introverted and appear awkward around employees. Good managers but not strong leaders. Textbook workplace: uninspired and unremarkable. Dry personality will keep it from getting to the next level.
