Pros

You’ll meet so great genuine people (clients AND staff). The only reason work life balance is getting a high score is because my boss Karen (yes, really her name is Karen) Pedockie was a huge advocate for her staff getting the time off they needed & probably one of the best bosses I’ve ever had.

Cons

Management isn’t great. All they (corporate) care about is their bottom line. They do not care about their employees or clients. Also be prepared to always be short staffed and have people not relieve you when your shift ends. Also, when I got promoted to office manager they had me doing the office manager work AND medical coordinator work on top of that (2 full time people’s jobs) for $13.50 an hour.

Pros

They are ALWAYS hiring and desperate because of the MASSIVE turnover rate this industry (and this company) has. Low Oversight(work alone, no cameras) Choose Your Own Schedule(sometimes) Next to no actual expectations of tangible results (trying is enough.) Great job if you enjoy going absolutely YOKED to work, most of my co-workers were basically high functioning drug addicts for a variety of reasons, (the largest being that this place will hire just about any ex-con outside of two or three types of criminal charges)

Cons

You will have a more professional experience working at burger king than a "career" with a company like this. Nepotism amongst management is so rampart that it wont be long until you've accepted that nothing will change for the better and any attempts at justice or correction are wasted effort. The state looks away because the needs of low-value workers and clients is secondary only to keeping the status quo up, and money interests kept safe (must keep these houses full, and running 24/7)! Everything in this industry takes too much time, you will wait months to get management to finally respond to issues with staffing/clients/managers/hours etc. By the time you receive a response, half the staff will have quit already which is the only problem they recognize (too many staff/manager quit means either shutting down a house or office workers will have to cover themselves, something they adamantly oppose because it means having to do a form of ACTUAL work) You will be lied to and gaslit frequently about the terrible working conditions, low pay, inconsistent scheduling, unreliable co-workers, and instability of the clients. Expect the rules to be bent all the way before the point of breaking by a thunderous majority of employees who have worked here for any length of time. (cleanliness, boundaries, respect, expect to receive no help on any of these being enforced except when state inspections arrive) Absolutely horrendous lack of or any forms of assistance in all forms, zero emotional support given after traumatic violent incidents, and woes and hour cuts to be met with indifference. Complaints about difficult clients, especially low functioning high need clients (think wheelchairs and diapers) is ignored, you will be expected to wear MANY hats working here, you'll be cooking, cleaning, giving therapy, social lessons, homework, medications, tracking, meetings, family visits, EVERYTHING with next to 0 recourse in terms of upper-management support in case things go wrong. House managers which are always filling newly vacant positions opened up from their previous occupant's realization that you've been working three times as hard for a measly pay increase, or once they've finally had enough abuse endured by upper-managements ever growing list of unreasonable expectations, unreliable co-workers, and horrendous working conditions. Working here you can expect to be exploited ruthlessly. This is a place in which you may very likely be physically assaulted, verbally harassed, and emotionally manipulated on a DAILY basis on shift. When you finally break, and you will break because it is a thankless, stressful. horribly managed, terribly compensated job you will be met with vitriol and corporate double speak as they quietly shuffle you out through hour cuts, making your working conditions worse, or suspending you without pay pending "investigations". This is a small taste of the nightmare of working in this industry and for this company.
