Pros
There used to be pros, but unfortunately under new management, both local and corporate there had been a complete nose dive in all things that used to be a pro.
Cons
Reselling products with large mark ups. Selling tampon trash cans and disposal services are the main product pushed, only product you’re paid out on the most, and hard sell because of the expensive costs, it’s not a revolutionary service like they push, and customers constantly complain. Customers cannot get out of contracts and forced to pay a lot to end service even when they are not getting the service they were promised, further slandering the name of Citron. Small reach limiting sales to local customers only. Newer management both locally and corporate have ruined this company to the point the ceo stepped down into a smaller roll to eventually leaving all together without one email notifying the company and no managers answering questions regarding it. Complete fire of local and upper management in one swoop during pandemic. Ran by financial investment firm cracking down on all things metric driven. Copious amounts of micromanagement, “where are you, what are you doing, what did you do today”. Multiple full day ride alongs per week with unfriendly managers not speaking but arms crossed annoyed watching you interact with potential customers setting an uncomfortable vibe in the room. Only allowed to go after small accounts so you need to be constantly running around making minimal commissions off each deal. Military style “call block” ran by manager that watches every move. Screaming over others in a call center setting like Wall Street to rapid fire 60+ cold calls and if you don’t meet 60 calls you are reprimanded. In office day “breaks” pre scheduled are never followed. 10 appointments scheduled during that time is the minimum requirement. 50 BRAND NEW walk in cold calls on the street with input into salesforce required a week. A minimum of 100 phone calls made per week. With 150 “interactions” inputted into salesforce you are required to then follow up on all your existing business and leads from previous weeks. Manager discusses personal matters with other team members painting them in bad light to turn on one another. Statistic driven and micromanagement to the point your direct manager will “question” your interactions accusing you of false entry. Very aggressive interactions with local manager if metrics weren’t made, as well as 10-12 new logos per month (the company average is 1.5) being the new minimum standard. Do not make money on current customers if up-sale is made. Compensation plan changes whenever money is made, which has been every 8ish months. New compensation plan comps tap you out but the new structure makes you making decent money impossible. No Christmas party’s, no team building, and don’t ever expect to get a raise. Used to have contests and if you won you still years later never received your prize. No fun, constantly walking on egg shells, intimidation, and zero happiness. Office is stinky like a public restroom. Citron hygiene used to be fun, but everyone is leaving because of the stress and inability to make money. So much turnover, not many people make it past 1/2 years before they leave. Inexperienced managers with no management background given full power to run as they see fit. Aggression and intimidation tactics used often. Anytime you bring a concern to a direct manager it’s ignored. This place has turned into a circus. Managers will pick a favorite and hand all leads to just them. Have incorrect payouts on commission that will take months to correct and to pay back. Run from this, they haven’t been able to hire anyone in well over a year and are currently running several markets with understaffed sales reps because everyone is leaving or has left. Rumors are they don’t pay commission out if you quit. That should speak volumes. You have to entertain customers on your own dime, no budget for coffee or donuts to woo a customer. You’ll never have an opportunity to move on to a promotion. You might get a fancy title or a piece of plastic with your name on it with no financial compensation. It’s cheaper for them to fire/ have people quit and keep the revolving door going. Don’t let them sweet talk you into a culture that is welcoming, prosperous, and supportive. Citron has turned vindictive, hateful, statistically driven, and have lost all signs of humanity towards their sales reps. Everyone is dropping like flies! Remember your starting salary will never be increased so if you end up going with them negotiate accordingly! (And you will be told that salary is non negotiable) starting salaries in the 40’s-low 50’s (country wide) for highly experienced sales reps) regardless of where you live, inflation, etc. you’ll be told you have the opportunity to make your own salary but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Remember *CAPPED COMMISSION* Do your research, contact current and former citron employees on LinkedIn and ask questions!
