Great Mission, No Vision

Pros

Great mission to passionately transform the lives of individuals, their families and communities locally and around the world, but no vision or plan of action on getting there as well as sustaining it.

Cons

A non profit company should not have a high turn over rate because of the mission, but when you have a Christian company with non christ like employees the mission and its low pay rate looses value. Worst then corporate politics.

Pros

People are very gracious and professional. It is very rewarding to know that the Mission is transforming lives and meeting real world needs.

Cons

Lack of communication and coordination between groups and departments makes it hard to get large projects done. Organization not growing and overall morale is low.

Pros

-Work in the trenches of poverty, homelessness, addiction recovery, and church planting is very rewarding. -Decent benefits -Need to be careful to discern if this kind of ministry with its challenges and battles is where you are being called. For me, despite the known challenges, it was and I wouldnt take it back as what I learned was valuable.

Cons

-Often hear the "we've tried it before" or "we've always done it this way" when trying to implement new ideas -There' s a heaviness to the culture from years of uncertainty about the fiscal future and high turnover
