Pros

Chairman & CEO very hands on and make an effort to know everyone in the company the best they can. A lot of people stay for a long time.

Cons

Not great pay or many opportunities for progression in certain teams.

Pros

Good salary, Used to have good company benefits and rewards, a lot of staff.

Cons

Horrific communication, no social opportunities, bosses with no patience or willingness to teach. There is no guidance for new recruits. I was dropped right into the deep end immediately and did as best as I could - but it was not enough. Inside my first week, I attended events and met with industry experts over dinner. This may sound like fun, but for an individual who has been in the industry for a week, it seems like I was set up to fail from the start. On top of the hard day's work, there was no opportunity for socialising with any employees as everyone is far too busy to spend any time with the new recruits. There seems to be a huge inner circle at Citywire, with employees staying for anywhere between 7-20 years. So what this leaves is an inner circle of old employees who have seen it all, and new employees who band together because they are alienated from the rest of the pack. If you think I am being harsh, I was told off for asking my boss if there was anything I could do for him? Every boss I have ever worked with has jumped at the chance to pass of unimportant tasks to a co-worker who offered, but not here. I honestly believe Citywire used to be a good place to work, however, I think the company has risen to the top of the industry, there is only one place for it to go - and that is down. Their desire to expand has come at the worst (albeit unforseeable) time. The company will lose a crazy amount of money this year and will have to cut costs and employees to stay afloat. It will not be able to run as tight a ship as it has been running the past 20 years, and the rewards to employees will be reduced. I think the best years are over for Citywire, and I think this economic crisis will ruin a lot of previously well-run companies.
