Pros

Potential to be an excellent force, capable of so much more than it is. Excellent training and specialist roles available.

Cons

HR are the worst HR department I have ever come across, it actually comes across as if they purposely make it an aim to screw people over. The force lacks a sense of identity. Lower and middle management are atrocious in general and promote a 'jobs for the boys' environment. If you really want to get on in this force do something stupid like crashing a police vehicle to get a driving course or get arrested to be promoted to inspector. If you come across crime in the community forget about 'duty of care' you will be treated like a criminal if you get involved and help out home office forces. Don't expect job satisfaction, there isn't any - period!

Pros

Shift pattern. Experienced instructors although a little out of date, due to them being retired and coming back as a trainer some time after, but the majority are still very knowledgable and helpful, and the training is good in places but too brief in others, although that's not down to the training staff who were good overall.

Cons

Badly managed, middle management dont really have any guidance they seem to make it up as they go along, it's more like a Military outfit rather than a modern police Constabulary, which is good in a military environment I'm not knocking that, but it most certainly isn't a Constabulary, it should be an agency and shouldn't be called a Constabulary. They also have no way of recording any crime no systems at all, which is odd. They also have an understaffed and badly managed HR and pay department, that constantly got things wrong, I could go Into detail on many different things but this is not the place to do so, but it was enough for me to take the time to write a review. I am a full time HO PC and have experienced other forces, one similar to the CNC which was much better, because they knew who they were, the CNC however do not, and should really rethink its position and have a more focused approach to its image, it seems to be undecided in what it should be, and therefore not really being anything, it's a confused organisation, the officers within are generally well intentioned and good people, but really not police officers.
