The senior management has burnt bridges with the rest of the staff. They fired about 1/3 of the team in the beginning of March because of funding issues. The remaining staff are scrambling to keep up with the work now on their plates, nervous about future layoffs, and trying to navigate a toxic environment. Most of my coworkers are looking for other jobs, so there will still be a lot of turnover.

Workers are expected to sacrifice like they're soup kitchen workers, but the work is not nearly as fulfilling, especially as the agency provides services as a contractor to employers and banks. The culture is very authoritarian and micromanaging. Even director-level managers have almost no autonomy. The heart and soul of the organization, counselors, are thought of as the bottom of the hierarchy. Counselors have to work 2 evenings till 8 a week and 2 Saturdays a month.
