The Emperor's New Clothes

Pros

Close parking, double monitors, and team work. The people are Clarifire's greatest asset! Too bad they are severely undervalued - you can't automate everyone into submission!

Cons

The story of the Emperors New Clothes is the perfect metaphor for Clarifire. There are at least two executives who will have to look up the story (to understand the relevance) and quite possibly the word "metaphor" itself! You have never experienced a workplace where the owner surrounds herself with people who tell her Yes - at any cost. People who give honest feedback are fired without hesitation. The pinnacle of Clarifire's business acumen was last week's Reduction in Force which was personally handled by the CEO. Her explanation to the (laid off) staff was that bad news received less than 24 hrs before was the catalyst for this RIF. The reason - "Clarifire's largest client pulled a significant amount of business" which resulted in a separation of 10 current employees + 3 new hires ( offers rescinded less than 2 business days prior to their start date). That's pretty reactionary - getting news that 1 of 8 current clients is reducing their portfolio and immediately you cut head count by 10%. The payback for loyalty of people who had worked for the company 60-70 hours/week for 3-6 years was 2 weeks severance and an article planted in the local business journal claiming only 5 people were let go and the cause being a new expansion of the data center. The Owner thinks Glassdoor is only disgruntled former employees - but the reality is that it's current employees who know that any constructive feedback can earn you the next ticket out the door with a "you are just not a fit" excuse. It's also everyone who has ever quit or been fired's exit interview. Negative feedback never gets through the filters (The Emperor's ministers). "The Emperor's ministers cannot see the clothing themselves, but pretend that they can for fear of appearing unfit for their positions." The most valued dept at any company is human resources. At Clarifire HR has a revolving door. HR staff are asked to tell the owner who has complained, what they reported to HR, and that information is shared amongst the inner circle, and is often used against people. HR staff doesn't last because true HR generalists have too much integrity to participate in the unprofessional atmosphere created by the owner. Talk about a lack of integrity - how about having negative feedback placed directly in your employee file and you are never notified? Building a (behind the scenes) case against someone is a common practice at Clarifire. Despite years of service or aptitude - you professional reputation can be torn down by key people in the inner circle who are threatened and bad mouth your work. People are black-balled based on how they look or telling the wrong person No. Feedback that goes against the norm is never welcomed. Don't ever fill out an employee survey at Clarifire - they are tracked back to the IP address of the person who submitted. If you buy into the emperors new clothes metaphor then Clarifire is the "perfect" fit for you. If not, don't bother applying! Clarifire operates under the axiom of pluralistic ignorance.

Worst Experience of My Life!

Pros

The people who aren't caught up in the cliques and office politics are great. There are some really talented people here.

Cons

This company is extremely dysfunctional. If you are not a member of the family, a member of a snobby clique, or married to one of them, you are considered a nobody (and totally dispensable). They constantly blindside people with terminations with no valid reason. People are "encouraged" to write favorable (fake) reviews on Glassdoor. This company has no clue about employment law. In fact, all of the company's employees are exempt, when a great many should not be. Employee's are expected to put in 50, 60 hours a week, and they don't get paid overtime. Turnover is extremely high with as many as seven people resigning within a month recently. Exit interviews never make it to the CEO so that she can hear what people really think. Not that it would make a difference. She treats her employees as if they are her minions anyway. She delivers good news from atop a staircase as she looks down upon her subjects. Bad news must come straight from HR, of course. She has no problem throwing them or other members of management under the bus. There is so much favoritism in this company it's pathetic. But watch out, you can be on the top one day and then make the wrong person mad and you are on the way out the door. I've heard that staffing agencies won't even send people to this company due to its toxic reputation. Job seekers should stay far, far away.

Pros

I'd say some of the best reasons to work at Clarifire are the peers that you work closely with (other than a clean air-conditioned facility).

Cons

There is absolutely No Work/Life Balance whatsoever and just about everyone works as a slave with no notice most of the time (about 50-60 hours a week if not more including just about every weekend and some holidays) with hardly any recognition. You are always going into (or leaving) work wondering whether or not you'll have a job the next day since the Company always seems to be laying off good people every quarter. It's as though the only answer to their Money issues is to cut highly intelligent people just to save a buck. Do not put hours of your Life into this place because it's not worth it and of course, you will not ever get that precious time from your Life back. There is just nothing but stress, anxiety, and health/sickness issues from the constant headaches (and more) you'll be getting day in and day out. There is no structured organization whatsoever and Management is too afraid at possibly losing their jobs if they were to get at the root cause of the problem even though they know what the main problem is with this poorly handled Company. The problem and root cause stems at the owner(s). The owner(s) seem to be very prideful and arrogant thinking that they know just about everything and no one can ever tell them different. They seem to not care about cutting people all the time. I've experienced this for several years and what I've seen is that no matter how skillful, smart, hard-working, or how much sacrifice you put into this place, the chances of you getting laid off are high! Now with that said, there may yet be another FAKE Review that says all kinds of positive lies about this place and to not listen to all the negativity just to counteract and put a balance on the review ratings here. Well, just to let whoever is reading this know that this is nothing but the TRUTH, especially if you were to take into consideration all the bad feedback/reviews given about this Company (which is the majority) on here versus the supposedly good feedback. That place is nothing but a rat-race where just about everyone is hanging on by a thin thread wanting to survive (except for the people who are in the click like the owners family).
