Pros

Looking after staff during pandemic. Generally happy staff and good to work with. Supports charities and encourages community involvement. Most managers are approachable. Diligent with compliance. Good deal with Bright Horizons for dependent care. Monthly fundraising happy hour.

Cons

Management out of touch with lower income workers needs. Doesn’t have a foundation that matches employee donations. Limited selection of charities supported. Kitchen supplies all disposable. Not a very green workplace. Some managers are very unpleasant. Racism and sexism has been experienced. No parental leave pay. Men are not encouraged to take any parental leave.

Pros

Clarion Partners has strong name recognition in the industry and is well regarded. You are exposed to many facets of the business so you can learn a lot; also a good amount of exposure to upper management. You are basically guaranteed a title promotion every two years, like clockwork. Bright minds and a lot of approachable senior management.

Cons

Very political - managers make it known they rank employees against each other on the same team for share of bonus pool and raises, which can lead to resentment and sabotage. Known bad apples are allowed to infect others - firings are basically non-existent and bad behavior tends to persist as a result because there aren’t repercussions. Below-average pay relative to peer firms - bonuses are good, but discretionary, so in a bad year this can all but vanish. Sometimes can get caught up in the “that’s how we’ve always done things” mentality At a certain point you will never be promoted if there’s a seat warmer at that level who isn’t going anywhere. This causes a lot of mid-senior folks to have to leave to move up.
