Some really good departments and people to work with. Some of the departments really care about the community and giving the best customer service they can provide.

Cons

Certain departments are very political and promote from within depending on political views.

Pros

Great benefits, vacation, sick leave, etc. Flexible schedules. Some interesting job functions. Nice building and location in downtown Vancouver.

Cons

Elected officials will micro-manage. Atmosphere is more political than necessary. There is little inspiration or motivation from leadership in general. Morale is a frivolous notion.

Pay is slipping compared to other jurisdictions and everyone is realizing they can make $5 more an hour just walking across the street to the City or another county. Political environment - conservative Upper management would never check in with us about our supervisors performance. I wish they had done this because I had a lot to say. Lack of communication between between departments and some poor processes.
