HORRIBLE JOB

Pros

There aren’t any pros about this job.

Cons

I could write a novel of how awful it was to work here. When I was hired here I was very excited to do well and succeed. I had originally applied to an “administrative assistant” position. Upon being hired I was given a title promotion to project manager. I thought this was great, but I was very wrong. My job duties were completely different from what was listed on the job posting. I was expected to take on many roles for the price of one, and take on loads and loads of additional assignments at any given time, with no additional pay. If someone quit or was fired, which was very common here as they had an EXTREMELY high turnover, other employees were expected to cover that job for no additional pay. I was expected to arrive early and stay late every day and was scolded when I didn’t. I was insulted for my looks by management because I don’t wear makeup every day (personal choice) or heat style my hair every day. This was after only 3 months on the job. The micromanaging is borderline obsessive compulsive, with the CFO hyper monitoring EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. of everything anyone does. They talk to employees like trash as well. I watched in horror as they removed an elderly woman from her apartment after she had been living there and paying rent to them for THIRTY YEARS, all because she had someone else living with her which was not against her lease. But they made sure to add that bit to her lease renewal and kick her out after she signed it. Last but definitely not least, I was fired less than one hour after requesting 6 weeks of maternity leave with a 3-month notice. They left me 6 months pregnant with no income, no insurance, and the only explanation being “they want to hire more accountants.” DO NOT WORK HERE. This place SUCKED the life out of me and made me miserable and then left me high and dry at my most vulnerable time. They are heartless.

Pros

Colleagues are generally good people. Quiet office environment. Employer paid healthcare.

Cons

On call 24/7 as an hourly employee (texts and calls from 5am to sometimes midnight) Was asked if I had children during interview (ILLEGAL). They don’t pay out vacation time after employment ends. Low Pay. Was NOT paid for my last two days of work (ALSO ILLEGAL). Slow vacation accrual. No work/life balance. No opportunities for growth. Received voicemails, texts and calls, threatening my job and calling me unprofessional during my first approved vacation after working there over 8 months. Was asked to clean and sanitize the office for more senior employee use during the height of the pandemic. I was unaware I was hired on as the janitorial staff. Management style is very outdated and power hungry.

Pros

There are no benefits to working for this company.

Cons

This company is a complete mess. It is run by the CEO, Kevin Short, and CFO, Paula Reeb. Neither of them have any idea of how their own company is run, so any information you need has to be acquired from past employees who do not want to be contacted. There is no training provided, and the job responsibilities are no where near what is listed in any job posting. Turn over is so bad, you are hired for one position and end up doing 2-3 jobs with no extra compensation. Employees are often called idiots and blamed for mistakes the two people in charge make. You are contacted late in the evening as well as on weekends and always excepted to respond. I have never met an employer who feels the need to micromanage so obsessively yet has no idea how the job is actually done. I could write pages of all of the horrible practices being conducted in this office, but I will save my breath and simply say, DO NOT accept a position with this company. You are guaranteed to regret it.
