      Clearwell Systems great place for some, can be terrible for others

      Pros

      Clearwell Systems is a market leader in an emerging space called electronic discovery. Being a leader, they will have great growth and will likely dominate. If you want to learn about this area, and want to build your carreer, this company would be a good one.

      Cons

      The company can be a difficult place to work on account of "cultural fit". You may find that you need to be an outgoing, social person, yet doesn't ask tough questions. Especially troublesome would be if you ask your boss a tough question - he/she will get defensive. You'll also be shocked when you get your annual performance review. Even if you put in extra-ordinary effort and everything looks great, when it comes to review, you'll likely be surprised that others who were more of a cultural fit get better reviews, better raises and promotions.

      1. You can learn about electronic discovery 2. Can learn building enterprise application using Java coding 3. You can learn about challenges of processing large amounts of data

      Cons

      1. Many new engineers who do not know the product. 2. The erlier engineers appear to have "checked out" after making millions on the acquisition 3. Many integration challenges with Symantec, slowing everything down. 4. Management generally trends to avoid risk, so you'll be working with old code with not much scope to improve or innovate.

      - Weekly All-hands meetings to motivate employees - Free lunches - Good, solid VC's backing - Good founder with high level of integrity

      Cons

      Untrustworthy CEO and executive staff. Only after the company was sold to Symantec that I learned it was the CEO's career pattern to sell employees on long-term vision, but the moment a semi-attractive offer comes along, he sold out. This was a similar pattern with his previous company.
