Welcome to the echo chamber

Pros

A good product that could have great potential in the market. Decent Work-life balance (flexible hours, can work from home, etc) Make strides in efforts of social good for the community etc. Probably a near-future acquisition target (good if you have early equity)

Cons

Inexperienced managers, especially in sales who are often useless to engage in customer conversations, lack vision, leadership and, are reactionary. The CEO (and executives) live in this echo chamber about how great they are while they assume the competition are all clueless idiots- even as they continue to out-execute Cloudability. This company has a hard time with business reality. This is a culture that believes its own BS and if you question or opine counter to this mindset you are quickly branded an outsider and you can say goodbye to any promotion or career growth. Notice the number of positive reviews all coincidently posted within days of each other in June/July timeframe. Seem's a bit manufactured... just saying

Pros

Competitive compensation, great benefits including extras like gym stipend, bottomless snacks - we take these for granted in the tech sector and Cloudability has all of them. Where I think they stand out: - A true startup, which is great if that's your cup of tea. They are growing fast! - Very engaged with the community, they sponsor many groups and host many meetups. - Small enough that the executives know your name and large enough to have good revenue and specialists in all of the leadership positions. - Great technology niche - the cloud is the place to be. But most of all the culture and people value a rare combination of fun and professionalism. They hire people for their life experience and values as much as for their competencies.

Cons

Startups are volatile, and Cloudability has a lot of turnover. They are not afraid to take risks and when they don't work out they may have to get out of a location or let a group of people go.

A great opportunity

Pros

I think Cloudability is a great place to work. You'll be afforded the opportunity to become a domain expert in all things cloud, which will only increase in value as time goes on. The engineering team is top notch, and working with the principal engineers on the team is a great way to sharpen your tools and get even better at your craft. You'll be challenged here, you'll have to stretch and get a bit outside your comfort zone, mainly because there is a very dense technical domain that the product functions in, so you'll spend a lot of your initial time getting familiar with the intricacies of public cloud services and how they relate to the product. I enjoyed the culture at Cloudability. The Boulder team I worked with is a very close, tight knit group. We always strive to include people and insure that they feel comfortable and are given a lot of opportunities to contribute and grow. Our team always made it a point to hang out and spend quality time together, which to me is the sign of a team that is high functioning, high trust, and high accountability. All things I crave in a work environment. I believe strongly that the management wants the best for employees. I felt that management was approachable, and I think all of the C-levels in the company genuinely care about their employees. I've had a few personal interactions with the CEO, and I felt that he was authentic and available.

Cons

I think Cloudability is still, in many ways, an early stage start up, despite its size. This can be a pro or a con, depending on what you're looking for. I think the team and company will continue to mature and grow as time goes on, but the immediate feel of the experience will be like an early stage start up, so make certain that you're prepared for that.
