Looks great on paper, but conceals culture of gaslighting

Pros

- Incredible benefits and perks - Great, innovative product - Bootstrapped company has good long term outlook - Wonderful and passionate people on every team, but a bad apple spoils the bunch

Cons

- Lots of talk about valuing diverse opinions and approaches but seems management only trusts input of a select set of favorites  - Frustration for managers: HR has final say on all hires, can veto a candidate that hiring manager likes. Managers don't have insight into their team's pay and are in the dark regarding raises of those on their team. Leaves managers fielding frustrations from their team with no tangible way to address the issues  - Confusion around commissions and pay schedules for sales team - Miscommunications across cross functional teams leads to occasional broken systems, often times the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing  - Employees are either micromanaged or told to do as they see fit. No matter what approach is taken they are often made to feel it was the wrong one. Feedback is often vague, metrics are often feelings based and ever changing, leaving employees feeling gaslit - Open secret that the office toxicity stems from within HR, but people in a position to do anything about it avoid addressing this issue and instead shuffle it around

We're very saddened to see how hurt you are. You were a hard worker and we can only assume how painful of an experience this was for you. We hear what you're saying and we can also understand (but vehemently reject) the urge to lash back. That said, posting daily 1 star anonymous reviews on Glassdoor is probably not the way to go... we truly wish you all the best and hope that you'll find the right place that aligns with your personal values. Be healthy.

Toxic Work Environment

Pros

It was close to my home

Cons

I have never in my life worked with woman that are so mean, insecure, and downright rude. If you have to work with HR or the recruiting team, treat lightly. Don't tell them anything about your life or if you are having an issue at work. Fix it yourself or find another job. It's really sad that people like this are so unhappy. I hope they get the help they need and things change for them in their life.

Toxic Culture of Smoke, Mirrors and Lip Service

Pros

- There are some great people who work/worked there, people you enjoyed being in the trenches with who really thought they could make a difference for the better - At one point it was a great and innovative product - Lots of potential for growth if they got out of their own way

Cons

- If you aren’t in engineering or a technical function, your opinion is made to feel like it is less than - Lack of upward mobility or career development except for some key favorites leads to a lot of apathy and demotivation across teams and difficult cross-functional projects - If you try to bring any critical feedback to leadership it doesn’t result in much and feels like complete lip service that they are there to support you and help you or you are gaslighted and made to feel like you aren't a cultural fit - Leadership would rather bury their head in the sand than deal with toxic elements within HR or critical progress blockers for cross-functional projects and if you aren’t willing to live with it and drink the koolaid and always say it is the best place ever, you are the problem - Values lots of activity over creating impact - Lack of diversity in executive leadership, and across almost all levels of upper management - Concerned that the cultural interviews conducted by the TA group inhibit diversity
