Pros

Very good reputation in Chicago. Benefits are great (healthcare, dental, etc). Small perks like early leave on Fridays in the Summer (if you can swing that with your work load). Fun events outside of work, fun events inside the company lunch room (pizza day, St. Patrick's day, etc..)

Cons

It is manager dependent that could make or break your experience at Clune. Some managers might be easier to work with then others. Some teams I noticed come in early and stay later then others. Work hours are a 7:30 start (not unusual in Construction)... but what is unusual is that in Construction when you start early, you typically leave early. Just be prepared to put in a lot of hours in the job. Not a bad thing if you like that, but when they say a 7:30a.m. start, they take that very seriously. Project Managers who have been there awhile still do entry level/administrative job tasks such as logging submittals, pay applications, etc. which weighs down work load and keeps them from getting to the real problems that occur on the job. It also extends work hours out for doing something an administrative assistant, or younger project manager should take on. Senior level Project Managers should not be doing time consuming administrative tasks but should be freed up to take care of larger issues, or take on more complex projects.

Pros

Chicago office/HDQT great environment, culture, excellent benefits; founder Mike Clune is wonderful to work for; colleagues are great

Cons

Culture not consistent among offices; some offices are outdated in their technology, methodology and mindset. Not strong leadership outside of the Chicago office.

Pros

Benefit offerings sound great. Flexible work schedule.

Cons

Group Medical Insurnace provided by Clune has a high deductible and very high out of pocket. Co-pay for prescription drugs are expensive. They do not offer a better plan, even if employee offers to pay difference.

Clune Construction Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We value all input from our employees, and we are sorry to hear about your experience. It’s disappointing to hear that our medical benefits didn’t meet your needs. Each year, we carefully review our benefit offerings and ensure that our deductibles and out-of-pocket costs remain below industry standards for the construction sector. We take pride in providing competitive benefits and fully covering premium costs for both employees and their families. Your concern regarding the workplace harassment claim is important to us. Clune Construction takes such matters very seriously, and our Human Resources department conducted a thorough investigation, including interviews with all members of the IT department. While we understand your concerns about the outcome, we are unable to share specific details due to privacy policies. Rest assured, appropriate actions were taken to address the situation. We also understand that your experience with our IT department did not meet your expectations. We continually strive to improve our operations and team dynamics, and your feedback will be taken into consideration as we move forward. We appreciate your short time with us and wish you the best moving forward. If you have any additional concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out directly by calling the Human Resources department at 312-726-6103.
