Good, but could be much more

Pros

This place is full of talent — particularly in creative — but it's not capitalizing on all of its potential. There are opportunities here and there to do smart, interesting work and there's a lot of stuff that's more of a keep-the-lights-on churn. The accounts aren't the sexiest, but there are a few fun ones and for the most part everything is a recognizable national or regional brand. The most attractive thing is probably the people and the work/life balance. If you want to work at a good shop but not give your entire life to advertising this is a place to be in Minneapolis.

Cons

As much as they talk about change, it's slow to be implemented. There are simply too many people who are stuck in an old school mindset. It could be said that this is the nicest agency in town. There is little interest in pushing clients to buy smarter work or even having difficult internal conversations between account and creative teams. It's all about about stability, which is great for client longevity, but not the best thing for selling the top notch creative. There's a lot of emphasis on winning Best Places to Work awards. This is a hardly a con, but some of the (tangible) benefits could be more competitive with other top agencies in town if they truly believe it's one of the best places to work.

Pros

The office is a great space, with a handful of nice gesture perks like stipends for phone and supporting local businesses. You work with some very talented, experienced people. One of the EVPs talked to entry-level employees in a genuine manner seeking honest feedback.

Cons

Some of the people are there to climb the ladder and will stab you in the back and are there only for their own advancement. My direct manager gave me no work to do even though I asked often. Months later, I was let go for not contributing enough... okay. They plaster buzzwords like "DEI," "inclusivity," and "BIPOC" all over along with imagery of POCs in their work, but leadership is white, white, white. If you want employees with truly unique backgrounds and ethnicities, then know how to develop them. Don't tell me—show me.
