Pros

Typically laid-back groups of employees with smaller department sizes so you can get to know most everyone you work immediately with.

Cons

I found there to be a great deal of issues in the upper management levels - in addition to the usual petty politics, there seemed to be a lot of back-and-forth over who was responsible for certain issues. Lots of confusion at times with how things were supposed to be running. I found that a lot of times the students took a back-seat when it came to many issues.

Pros

Health insurance and retirement benefits; Good entry-level experience to learn the basics of Higher Education.

Cons

Pay is HORRIBLE. Management constantly micromanages you. There is no work-life balance, even if you have the time to take. Don't expect to receive praise and thanks from other departments, but expect to receive the BLAME for EVERYTHING. Employees tend to burn out quickly and quit in this position. There is no appreciation in this position.
