Pros

Common Seas is an organisation filled with inspirational colleagues who are experts in their field and have shaped programmes that contribute towards an important mission. There is a genuine passion for the cause and a deep care for the ocean across the organisation that adds to the drive to succeed. I have experienced some career highlights in my role, working with fantastic partners to build a programme that I truly believe has the capacity to inspire action. During my time here, I have been encouraged and supported to grow professionally whilst maintaining a healthy work/life balance. My achievements have been recognised and celebrated through praise and promotion.

Cons

Common Seas is still a relatively new organisation that has grown very quickly and is learning along the way. The CEO cares deeply about every project, contributing and collaborating across them all. However, as the projects are all broad in their approaches, audiences, and stages of development, this isn't always practical and can at times lead to confusion and frustration for project teams.

Pros

This company has given some incredible experiences and support throughout my time here, which has been refreshing in comparison to previous workplaces. The entire team are kind and knowledgeable in their fields and the business itself is achieving great things that make you truly proud to be a part of it. The CEO & management team have given me more support and compassion in my personal life than any other company I have worked for and are quick to offer support and flexibility in workload or responsibilities if you need help.

Cons

Previous reviews have given very a dramatic and exaggerated view of management which is untrue and unfair on how the place operates and everyone working here. There has been disjointed ways forward when changing priorities arise, but management have been making active changes to move forward in the best way, and adopting a flexible approach is standard in smaller new businesses. I would say a con is that there is no current structure for role progression due to being a relatively small start-up, but they do pay well so is a fair compromise.

Pros

Working at Common Seas was an incredibly enriching experience for me. I remember it to be a supportive, creative and nurturing work environment where my skills as a designer flourished. I’m sad to read the bad reviews about the company’s CEO. For me her leadership style encouraged collaboration and open communication. Her guidance and feedback was instrumental in helping me grow both professionally and personally. I admired her dedication to the company, her vision and always finding a solution when things got difficult. I am grateful for the opportunities I had at Common Seas and would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to work there.

Cons

Working on very different projects at once. Getting last minute projects sometimes without proper brief.
