Overwhelming with little support

Pros

Remote- all but one week per month. Bonus Pay-2x per year Quality Assistant Principals

Cons

Upper Administration needs improvement. Class sizes are consistently growing with no cap. Workload has increased drastically year to year with no increase in pay. Very little accountability for students/caretakers. Teachers are evaluated on pass rate and I-Ready scores despite the lack of accountability for students/caretakers. Working outside of business hours is mandatory for field trips, marketing events, and evening support room without flex time because ‘we are professionals’.

Pros

Staff at all levels is extremely friendly. Everyone does have the students best interests at heart.

Cons

Way too much expected of teachers Teach all day, every day. Do small groups. Create diverse lessons asynchronously. Scaffold lessons in live instruction. Progress monitor. Call every parent every month. Create IEPs. Run IEP meetings. Then they have a life coach come around twice a year to give us an hour "burnout" training. It's not nearly enough.

Pros

Some flexibility with hours and time off Colleagues are pleasant and helpful Continuing education benefits are very good Competitive benefits and PTO Limited number of work from home days (if you’re not feeling well, but can still perform job duties)

Cons

Micromanaging becomes increasingly evident each year-staff used to be trusted to work independently and make decisions, but this is rarely the case currently. Administration (HR/CEO etc) punishes the whole group for issues of few individuals Curriculum is put in place before it is ready to be efficiently implemented Office does not close early/ or have morning delays for snow, ice, etc - puts staff in danger Many teachers are given workloads that cannot possibly be completed in the confines of a work day- numerous hours are required after school hours and weekends with no compensation or offers to flex your hours; When grade or subject-like colleagues are out on medical, maternity leave, etc, teachers have to cover with no additional pay (mandatory) Teachers are often unsure to ask when they need assistance, technical/curriculum, etc. They are then reprimanded when something is not done correctly
