Pros

CCU was once a great place to work.

Cons

I love CCU and was/am a very loyal employee. I lead a large team and tried daily to live up to the VPs unachievable expectations. As someone who has seen how decisions are made and been privy to these conversations I cant tell you the number of times I have heard ugly remarks from some of the companies top leaders about the people who work hard every day to make them successful. The mean names, jokes, and gossip this Management and Executive Team use is shameful! This is not the best place to work in Ky. Soooo much energy is put into receiving this acknowledgment every year and they will sacrifice anything to get it! Who they want you to think they are and who they really are are completely different. Some may read this and think think I am someone who left on bad terms, or think I was let go, fired, reprimanded, etc. Thats simply not true. The truth is CCU does not value you, they take for granted that you can choose where YOU work, and I let them go! I let go of the fear and control , I chose to take back my life. I will never get the time back I lost to CCU. But, I am looking forward to not being micromanaged and taken for granted.

Thank you for leaving this feedback. We appreciate your passion and we're sorry this was your experience. Rest assured we take great pride in our Team 1 Culture and hold everyone accountable for living it day in and day out. We value each and every team member, which is why our Team1 Culture was actually developed and created by our employees, not handed down by our Board of Directors or Senior Team. We take great pride in our Values, which include things like Trust, Care for Others, Collaboration, and Integrity. Our leaders receive ongoing monthly training on this and other topics, because we believe that when the leader gets better, everybody wins. Besides a great culture, our team members benefit from ongoing Professional Development, both through monthly individual meetings with their leaders, as well as through a robust program offered by our Career Development department. We are proud of our designation as a Best Place to Work, but we do not tailor our efforts just to win an award. This designation is recognition of the everyday experience of our team members. The Best Places to Work recognition is given by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and is based on feedback from our team members, as well as an evaluation of our benefits package (which is extraordinary!), and our HR policies and guidelines. Last year, our team members reported a 94% engagement rating, which means that 94% of our team members report being highly engaged and love working at CCU. As for turnover, we are proud that our actual turnover was just a fraction of what the financial services industry and the workforce in general experienced in what was termed "The Great Resignation." Our turnover was considerably lower than half of the 40% turnover that others in our industry and elsewhere experienced during the pandemic. That does include retirements, but the average tenure of those retirements was over 30 years at our organization. We think they earned it! ;) Our average tenure is still over 9 years, which shows that most who come to us don't come for just a job, they stay for a career, which is fantastic! Again, we do appreciate this feedback, which is why we offer multiple all-staff and pulse surveys throughout our organization each year and use that input to improve our organization, top to bottom.

Pros

Other employees are awesome. They really care about the Credit Union and its members.

Cons

CCU Managers and VPs are fake. There is a fake culture of caring they call Team One. This is contradicted daily by your inability to attend Dr. Appts and take leave when needed. During Covid you couldn’t come to work if you had symptoms but if you needed to get a test or were quarantined by a Doctor managers and HR would be upset. I felt hopeless. The Culture Guy is an escape goat. If you have issues with the Culture you are suppose to seek his guidance. But, he hears so many issues he no longer cares and has no power to help you. HR absolutely does not care. The Br. MNGRS can do, say, behave however they want. HR will not help you. They basically throw their hands up at you. They are untouchable! VPs are so far removed from the process and people, they are made to visit the branches, and you can tell! All of the good MNGRS have left. These were the ones that had your back and stood up for you. These were MNGRS that had been there for a long time. Eventually you learn to just smile and say yes Ma’am while you search for other higher paying jobs. It’s not a battle I wanted to fight any more. It was just exhausting!

Pros

Best benefits and great pay.

Cons

Senior management are bullies and have clicks. Think Mean Girls! If you are okay with being a “yes” person or puppet you may be successful there! I was cursed, experienced fist shaking , job threatening, etc. They preach good environment and values but don’t practice it!
