Pros

Impactful work that benefits the community. Great place to learn and try new things without fear of "failing". Collaborative team with incredible subject matter experts. Strong focus on work/life balance and flexible schedule. Fantastic benefits and wellness resources. Very cool office space where you can interact with founders and start ups on site.

Cons

Pivoting quickly to meet the needs of the founders they serve, can be hard for some people, but if you thrive in an evolving company then it wouldn't be a con for you.

People trying to do good work, crushed by destructive and ego-driven leadership

Pros

The non-leadership individuals in charge of getting stuff done, are well-intentioned and hard working.

Cons

- Leadership team has no say or power when it comes to the CEO and Marketing team. - Most of the leadership team is here for their own legacy and ego. - Waste tax payers money on programming and solutions that have not been vetted or given the time to be developed properly - Zero organizational identity and understanding of what Communitech does - Exhaustive CSO salary spent on developing a "Strategy" that was identical to the one being executed on for years prior. - CEO aggressively uses public funds to fly and spend on hotels that are not aligned with Communitech strategy, despite concerns being raised by other members of the leadership team. - Despite program and product teams fighting for resourcing and funds, Marketing team is given a blank cheque and full authority to do whatever they wish without consequence. - Culture and perks are used as a weapon to support low-pay and compensation. Clauses in employment agreements require you to also, at whim, volunteer for events and other things happening. Without concern for the individuals workload and deadlines.

Company culture and brand destroyed by poor leadership

Pros

Company used to be friendly and family-oriented. If you are a personal friend of senior leaders you might be lucky enough to get promoted

Cons

Brand has been absolutely decimated by poor leadership decisions in the last year by the new CEO and other new leaders. The company is barely hanging on to its reputation and has lost the respect of the local community and employees
