Very Compassionate Company

Pros

Company seems like family, encourage employees to expand their ambitions. Pay is very competitive. Most of the upper management are women who worked their way up the ladder. No glass ceiling here. (no pun intended).

Cons

Hospice care is not for everyone. Very difficult emotionally to deal with patients who are going to die as well as grieving families on a daily basis.

Field staff at Companion Care Hospice

Pros

The field staff have great hearts and skill. Families are provided with great care despite lack of support from supervisors through upper management.

Cons

No raises; preshool level games designed by management to address paperwork rather than serious training; supervisors with no field experience; policies that conflict with Medicare guidelines; frequent layoffs; high caseloads; staff are assigned all over the place and mileage is paid at $0.44 a mile; and upper management who do not listen to field staff and behave embarassingly at company functions.

Pros

Amazing and incredibly strong patients and families who open their lives and homes to us. Great team of nurses, chaplains, and social workers who support each other. Rewarding position in all of the relationships you form.

Cons

Upper management lacks consistent communication, professionalism, and across the board equal treatment of all employees. Lacks consistency in following a set standard of policies and procedures with both patient care and employees. Seems to more often opt for classroom style rewards for good employees rather than promotions/raises.
