Pros

Good middle management, good place to build up a résumé. Fairly clean office, pizza day once a month, good health & dental coverage. Snacks in the kitchen fairly often. Holiday events at Christmas, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. Your own cube and desk. Good place to learn what does and doesn’t work when developing software.

Cons

Outdated technologies, software, and office culture. Hard deadlines and a tendency to leave things until last minute. Communication with fellow employees is sometimes discouraged. Middle management is vastly overworked and under appreciated, sometimes difficult to talk to as a result. New employees can sometimes be thrown in at the deep end as there isn’t any structured on-boarding. Salaries aren’t great and employee reviews only happen every 18 months. Sparse meetings among teams. Vacation and other benefits apart from health coverage is also minimal. Employees were made to feel guilty when they wanted to work from home during the pandemic.

Pros

Benefits are okay Pay is decent Some projects are quite interesting You won't have to worry about keeping up to date on modern tech trends to work here - this company is perfect for people who learned Java once and don't care to learn any more.

Cons

Compusult develops as if it were the mid 90s - they still use HTML tables for layout! They don't use dependency management, frameworks, or even CSS libraries. They have the worst case of Not Built Here Syndrome I've ever seen. I can't recommend working here if you have a desire to work at fast-paced, influential companies, as Compusult will not prepare you for that. In fact, the bad habits and deprecated practices you'll learn there may even be detrimental.

Pros

If you are just starting out your career, you can learn a lot working here. After acclimating to the work environment you will end up in a variety of projects in different technologies. The project managers as a general rule are very personable and willing to work with you.

Cons

Starting out can be difficult unless you push managers for work. While every job in software development has its crunch times, many of the ones you'll encounter here are due to lacking communication in upper management.
