Pros

In the past, I would say the family like culture, taking care of employees who worked with the customers everyday. The technology was good. Everyone cared about the company, and felt like they owned a piece of it to make it great.

Cons

Over a year ago, CSI was sold to two private equity groups to help "grow" the company. Since that time, we have had nothing but major cuts which impact our salaries. No more profit sharing, 3% base raises no matter what the market is doing, now a bonus program we have to compete for. Health insurance costs are increasing for those making under 65k a year. And the company has had over 5 C suite leaders "quit" or taken out, either way, does not scream stability.

Pros

The company is financially solvent. Job security even if you don't want to work very hard.

Cons

Hard workers carry the load allowing others to skate along. If you are a hard worker, they will work you until you have nothing left to give. All along they are keeping the under achievers employed. Work loads and salaries are very unbalanced. If you are one of the hard workers and mention you need to be compensated for it, management berates you until you feel guilty for even bringing it up. There are people in the office that do NOTHING all day every day because they have nothing to do, yet are kept on the payroll. Come and go as they please for 2 -4 hours a day. Some employees are allowed paid time away from work to take their cat to the vet - other employees have to beg and take vacation time to take their sick child to the doctor. People are picked to be promoted based on if they are personal friends or if they are liked. Not on what they know. And the manager that lacks the required knowledge then takes the hard workers under them and rides them hard works them into the ground, while allowing the non-performers under them to just skate along on the payroll. If you bring any of these things up to management, YOU become the problem.

Not a great company

Pros

If you're a white male, you only have to give 50%. Over the past year, 3 weeks of vacation at hire was finally announced. However, pay and benefits are still WAY behind industry standards.

Cons

This company is very religious, and sexism is rampant. Management doesn't listen to the concerns of employees. The pay is abhorrent, and many professionals are leaving because of this. CSI requires employees to act like we're still in the 1950s. Why aren't there many women on the board or in C-level positions? Why is this company still requiring business professional dress for programmers? Why is management not questioned when multiple employees are unhappy? They are only concerned with keeping up their bottom line and seem to have no plan for the future. Many people are retiring soon, and people are not being trained on this loss of knowledge that will be happening any day.
