I had the unfortunate experience of working at Conduktor, and I must say it was one of the worst professional experiences of my life. The CEO's erratic behavior and lack of employee empathy made it a toxic rollercoaster. 🤯 Crazy CEO: Unpredictable and Unreasonable 🤯 The CEO's leadership style was nothing short of chaotic. One moment, they would be all smiles, and the next, they would tear people down without rhyme or reason. It was like walking on eggshells daily, not knowing when the next round of layoffs or berating comments would strike. 🔥 Firing People without Mercy 🔥 The lack of regard for human emotions was appalling. People were being fired left and right, seemingly on a whim, without considering their dedication or hard work. It felt like employees were disposable and treated as expendable assets instead of valued contributors to the company's success. 💔 No Eye for the Human Things 💔 There was no room for work-life balance or personal well-being. The relentless focus on productivity and results came at the expense of employees' mental health. Burnout was commonplace, and there was little support or understanding from management. 🚧 Toxic Culture and High Turnover 🚧 The toxic work culture drove away many talented and passionate individuals. Seeing so many colleagues leave was disheartening due to the relentless pressure and disregard for their well-being.

We're sorry to hear you have left Conduktor feeling this way. There are some troubling and personalised statements in this review which we take extremely seriously. As with any start up business that’s scaling in the current economic climate it is common to work in a fast paced environment to deliver new features and projects. This can create asks on teams that can make them feel under pressure as deadlines near, however this is not unique to us but typical of the technology industry at large. The industry itself has been heavily subject to mass layoffs recently as a whole, including big tech such as Amazon, Meta, Spotify and Apple having to downsize. As a young start-up, we have unfortunately not been immune to this. However our founders have strived to remain open and transparent with our workforce over such decisions, constantly living our ‘We speak the truth’ value while we navigate through the external market as we continue to grow. We also ensured that the individuals that were impacted received generous severance packages. The comments you have made against the CEO seem very personal by nature. We have a number of anonymous feedback loops within the organisation to regularly improve and monitor employee experience and satisfaction: anonymous question forums for weekly All Hands, engagement surveys, grievance procedures and most recently company wide 1-1 HR engagement interviews, as well as exit interviews of our leavers; none of which have reflected these concerns or sentiments. As we move from a start up business into a scaled out organisation our focus is also on continuous improvement of our processes. An example of this is the recent implementation of our new levelling framework which has been well received by our teams. We have also recently published people policies and procedures to encourage individuals to reach out to their manager or the People team to discuss any concerns that they may have so as to find an appropriate solution together. Although it appears you are no longer with Conduktor we would be happy to discuss your concerns as they are still important to us, and address any further misconceptions. Pros

The company was genuinely fun to work at. The engineering team was so skilled and the office was always a good vibe. There was free snacks all day long and free lunches on Thursdays. The socials every month were the best thing ever and I've made life long friends because of this company. The People Ops Coordinator in London was amazing and she always made sure the socials were the best they could be! She really was the backbone of the London office for any issues you could have. The product was nice to work on with some great clients to be able to put under your name. Managers were quite good too and had weekly check-ins which ensured you always knew where you stood. The CEO & CTO (co-founders). In my entire time at Conduktor, I don't think I once spoke to someone who liked the CEO or enjoyed working with him. It is true that CEOs aren't there to be liked, they are there to lead companies well. He, unfortunately, does neither. He would change his mind on the direction of the company every other quarter. First it was ****, then it was ****, then it was whatever else he came up with. All in the span of under a year. His company-wide messages on Slack were always corporate BS without actually addressing the concerns that staff had. The CTO had no idea, for some reason, that he was NO LONGER an engineer. He would still contribute AI slop PRs and the engineers that worked on his team would be responsible for reviewing it. That creates such a weird position for them because would you be really honest if his PR was trash? Probably not. He never actually coded anything by hand and instead just vibe coded all of his PRs which, of course, introduced bugs into the code that engineers needed to then clean up. No one wanted to be on a team with him because of all of this but some had unfortunately drawn the short straw and you could feel that it was getting to them having to work with him. I'm really sad to have to write this review as I think the company, staff and product itself were really really cool and was a great place to work at both professionally & socially. Unfortunately, these latest layoffs where they got rid of basically their entire engineering department means the company will continue going downhill if the CEO & CTO think they have nothing to change about themselves. The CTO will keep alienating all of the remaining engineers until they all leave. One AI slop PR at a time. It's saddening to not be able to recommend this company anymore to people who might have an offer from them as they did these sort of layoffs once. SWORE they would never do it again and lo and behold, here we are with a massive layoff yet again. I can bet they will at some point mass hire again and the cycle repeats.

A big mistake to join this company

Good product and that's it.

Cons

- Salary cheating – bonus that will be promised you will never get. It is just the way to cut the price. - Salary level - should be not more than you can get in the rural area of France like Lille or better less. - You will not get software and hardware products - to full fill your tasks that were promised. - Disrespectful behavior and being mean to people in case of a tiny mistake. - High turnover- people can leave the company after 2 weeks from their start, as cofounders can decide that they did not show a result. - Not a remote company – as it was claimed, in some locations it is obligatory to visit the office. Founders changed their minds from what they said at the beginning. - People don’t have a voice in the company – you have no way to argue or share your opinion. - Lack of management skills - don’t be lured by Stephane Derosiaux who makes the first impression as a trustworthy person who needs some help. All that was mentioned above is his management style or smth that he has copied from his former managers and thinks that how the leader should be. - Best decision is to wait and see, as soon they will run out of money and founders will learn a lesson from investors by becoming free from their responsibilities and company.

Hi there, we're sorry to hear about your negative experience with Conduktor. We are a little confused though about some of the information you have mentioned in your review and feel it is quite misleading to readers. We are as transparent as possible on all of our job specs and contracts on whether a role is remote or hybrid. This is something that is clear to see and is communicated from the outset. Based on the location you mention + the reference to our CTO we believe you are likely a part of / were a part of our engineering team. Bonuses are not something we offer to our engineering team and we are surprised to hear this mentioned in the review. It is not something that would be promised to any engineer joining Conduktor. We offer a stipend to cover extra hardware costs. If this is something you do not know how to claim please speak to our finance team to learn how you can expense anything. Finally, Stephane has been very open with our engineering team about this review and has taken the time to speak with everyone on the team to find out if anyone is feeling this negatively. We would hate for someone to feel like they cannot speak up or to be unhappy at Conduktor on a daily basis. If you are still with the company we would love for you to either speak with Stephane or the People team about how you are feeling so we can go forward from there.
