Pros

Decent exposure to a broad range of technologies, some decent engineers.

Cons

The management team were largely uninterested, focusing on other businesses outside of Conosco and it appeared to have become a lifestyle business without any real drive, direction or ideas. The business failed to grow significantly during my time and Staff were treated like cannon fodder. Wages were average for the industry but nothing special and you had to fight like crazy to get any form of pay rise. Towards the end of my time it became apparent that the business was up for sale, and I wasn’t inspired enough to stay and find out what might become of the place.

It was both difficult and tough to read this feedback knowing how much I, my leadership team and indeed our entire body of staff care for each other, and how hard we all strive to ensure success for one another, and our wider Group. However, it is not my style to dismiss any form of feedback and so I would like to address the keys points being made by the ex Support Engineering employee who has clearly left our business with a less than favourable view: Our Support Engineering team in the UK are an incredibly important and skilled part of our technology business: From dealing with urgent, complex and diverse technical support requests in high-pressure client environments, to being the calm and friendly ‘face’ of our technology business, members of this team are very much on the front line and as such are deeply respected for what they do by me, my leadership team and all our staff. Conosco's leadership team members have no outside ventures that they tend to - as is claimed in this review - and are firmly committed to sustaining a thriving culture that subscribe's to Kim Scott’s Radical Candor methodology: we give honest and frequent feedback, good and bad, and always do so in a manner that shows that we care deeply about those who we are speaking to. Equally, we invite feedback from anyone in our business or client base - and I make a personal point of meeting all employees 121 soon after their first few weeks with us to hear their views directly and as openly as they are prepared to. We hold quarterly staff engagement surveys whose results are made public - and have always rated our business to a very high standard, with >90% of staff regularly reporting that they would ‘go the extra mile’ for the business and their team mates. We drive and strive to maintain a truly engaged and supportive business culture. In terms of personal growth support every member of staff is encouraged and supported in producing a Personal Development Plan that is used in their frequent 121s with their bosses as a steer as to how we, as a business, can support our employee’s growth and career path. As with all things within our Group, pay reviews and all promotions are driven as a meritocracy: no promotions or pay rise if you’ve missed expectations; inflationary increases if you have met expectations; and a great deal more if you have exceeded them. As such we see high performers who deliver both for their teams, and personally to their PDP plans, being highly rewarded, with many of our managers and senior leadership team have risen through this ethos. Strategic drive, direction and ideas are generated following a well-established OKR methodology that involves our broader extended leadership team’s input, and each quarters OKRs (and their final results) are shared openly within our Group. OKRs have proven to be a highly effective way for Conosco Group to continually improve, evolve and maintain a thriving employee culture. Whilst M&A forms part of our growth strategy, the Conosco Group is not currently considering a sale and so on this point I’m afraid the author is mistaken. All feedback is important to me and the Conosco Group, and so I thank the author for taking the time to share their views and wish them the very best for their future career. Anders Reeves, Group CEO

Pros

Some great people lower down the organisation, especially in support

Cons

Too many to list, but main one was toxic culture that management didn't seem bothered about and did nothing to address, very much a them and us environment

Pros

Used to be a good place to work with very nice customers Lots of learning opportunity You get to work on different sites and technologies

Cons

There are so many cons. Since a new CEO started the business changed and all of the really good people left because he is very inexperienced and doesn't know how to run the company. Staff who were average ended up getting promoted (the receptionist somehow became a manager and doesn't know what she is doing) so the managers in the business now are also very inexperienced The company is not progressing and there is no growth opportunities for staff. The Leadership also don't communiate with employees and when they do, they usually lie or hide bad news. They also pretend that the company is doing very well and making a lot of profit but none of the staff get any pay rises or bonuses and salaries are very low. The customers are nice but always complain about Conosco when you visit them. The office is nice but very small and very difficult to get to with no nice lunch places close by. There is also a massive blame culture with managers constantly blaming each others teams for mistakes and complaining about each other.

As Group CEO, it is positive for me to read that our Group’s drive to attract strong talent, and service quality clients through delivery of exemplary business services is something that this reviewer recognises and has clearly been a part of - and I thank them for doing so. The Cons that they list: it would be expected and predictable for me to attempt to deny or counter any of the somewhat more personal assertions they make about me and so I will avoid doing just that and leave their words to stand alone. Whilst it is always sad - both for me personally, and the wider staff across our Group - for leavers to do so in a negative way or with a disgruntled view, I have to take heart in the years of staff engagement results we have collected that indicate our diverse body of ~70 staff LOVE to work at Conosco, love to work with the colleagues in their teams, and all support and buy-in to the mission I and my leadership team are working for us to achieve as one, united and happy Team. In terms of financial reward - Conosco Group is run as a meritocracy, and as such high performers and those who support our culture and Team-first ethos are well rewarded each year as a result, as I believe they should be. I wish the author well in their future career, and hope that one day they find a great fit where they can prove to flourish. Anders Reeves, Group CEO
