Pros

Most of the other legal staff are friendly enough, but that the only positive I can give this company.

Cons

What more can I say other than this company is a mess. Don't fall for the well written ads for positions vacant like so many others appear to have, this company is stuff nightmares are made of. Once they get your signed contract in their hands the world shifts in a way that I could only describe as closely resembling what the characters of a Steven King novel must experience. I’m surprised I didn't see a set of twins asking me to come play with them, or a clown offering me a balloon. On top of the ridiculously low salary they expect you to accept after going through the 3 rounds of interviews (I’m guessing they want to appear like a top tier firm?) you are then welcomed to the team with the unbelievable incompetence every other department that you find yourself unfortunate enough to come into contact with. These other departments will harass, insult, and abuse you all while treating you like you are working in an Indian call centre rather than a lawyer in a law firm. I was both stunned and horrified to find there is not an ounce of respect for the lawyers, and considering this company is meant to be a law firm I was absolutely appalled. And then there are the ridiculous hours you are expected to work. Don't fall for the 8.30-5.30 you are told you will be working, get ready to work until all hours of the night as you try to control the insane amount of work that is thrown at you. And don't you dare ask for help or tell them that the insane amount of work is too much. This would only result in an imminent attack from the executives or their lackeys in a way I could only describe as a pack of wolves circling a wounded deer. The turnover of staff in this company is so high that you would be lucky to find a lawyer who has more than a couple of years’ experience, and that would be pushing it. At the end of the day, if you want to work for a company who treats you like a human being, avoid this company at all costs!

Pros

the staff are nice enough and the office is in a good location. That's were the pro's end unfortunately. Do not recommend working for this company.

Cons

Staff turn over is high A lot of work is outsourced to overseas. The IT team is in the Philippines, you can see how well that works when your computer isn't working. They promise you a reasonable work load but within a few short months of starting, it increases dramatically with no support staff. There is also no capacity from other staff to help when needed. Management love you when you are sitting quietly working crazy hours but then turn on you when you have 20 settlements in a week and ask for help.

Pros

Terrible work conditions brought team closer together. I learnt how to work under extreme pressure and what red flags to look out for when applying for other jobs.

Cons

Poor top-level management primarily the issue. At first, there were a few good managers who stood up for us, but they all left for workplaces with better conditions. The corporate managers of the parent company are out of touch with little relevant experience for managing a law firm. They talked down to lawyers and forced us to work ridiculous hours. You will not be working 8.30am - 5.30pm as they frequently assign you urgent and complex work at the last minute. They are data-obsessed and track your activity. If you are not meeting the arbitrary quota of files/reviews per day, you are reprimanded. The quota did not take the complexity of matters into account. In a real law firm, preference is given to quality of work rather than quantity. Not here - CCA prefers to churn through the most amount of matters possible with no regard for the customer experience. Issues that are not your fault - such as clients becoming irritated with the poor customer service from the significant offshore workforce - will soon become your problem as clients yell at and harass you to vent their frustration with the system. If you ask for help with difficult matters, you are not given any guidance. There are few lawyers who have been there for more than a year and who can actually answer the complex legal questions which inevitably arise. I was told that "junior lawyers often have to just figure it out for themselves" which just comes across as negligent to me. The graduate lawyers this company employs should be given the support they need but are left feeling alone and anxious. So many issues were left unresolved with very upset clients. We brought these issues to the attention of our leaders. According to management, the data suggested that we were doing fine, so our legitimate complaints were dismissed. Lawyers were burnt out, exhausted, and borderline traumatised from how we were treated. I could go on, but in summary if you would like a healthy workplace where you are valued, I would not recommend this one.
