Pros

Some of the hardest working employees A strong desire to make the company succeed A great business idea with a large market ripe for disruption Willingness to try different things and take risks, and continually iterate Good perks, including good healthcare, gym at the building and meals twice a week

Cons

No experienced leaders. Dan, the CEO has never led a team more than 10 people prior to Convoy and is clearly way in over his head. None of the other leaders at the company have ever led large teams, nor scaled businesses so quickly. Overworked "front line" employees. As other reviews have stated, the front line employees on all teams are overworked (well over 50-60 hours per week) underpaid, especially for Seattle. Lack of transparency from leadership. They stopped accepting anonymous questions during show and tell, they use tiny pulse to target people that try and give feedback and they are unwilling to admit mistakes. Bunch of "yes" men/women in leadership roles. The CEO doesn't want anyone on his team that disagrees with him or calls him out. The only people he hires are people who go along with what he wants. Shows his lack of experience and maturity.

Pros

Convoy's got a collection of the best talent that can be found. Ridiculously innovative, good pressure, huge momentum, great people and good general culture - we're what a start up is supposed to be right now. You learn a ton working at ANY startup but Convoy's amazing for personal growth - they really empower you to learn anything you want to; they encourage a thirst for knowledge and what better place to learn than with some of the most brilliant people in Seattle?

Cons

Undervalued - Every single one of my peers that I've talked to, who's not in management, feels undervalued. A few other reviews mentioned this; the salaries are way below market rate and they promise you paltry amounts of equity in exchange. You can't live on equity in a city as expensive as Seattle, and there’s an inherent risk in equity that they expect you’ll overlook. Overworked - expect to pull regular 10 hr days. If you want overtime, you'll be laughed at. People do it anyway because they're invested in the mission. If you leave on time or take a lunch break, you get side-eyes and disapproving glances (not even from management, it's just the culture here) if you’re in the operations teams. No upward mobility - management is almost always hired externally. I mentioned that a PRO was personal growth; a CON is that Convoy's a professional dead-end. You'll find a smattering of people promoted-from-within, but to be honest, it's a little curious how all of the people who are friends with management outside of work have been the ones who are promoted. Some of them have proven themselves - others have not. Diversity and sexism - HR’s trying, they really are, but it’s pretty bad here. One team in particular has lost every single woman they recruit within a few months of hire. We’re also pretty lacking in diversity.

Pros

Huge opportunity. Smart coworkers. Fun problems.

Cons

Culture is extremely cut throat. Business trajectory is sharply down. Lots of Amazon worshippers in leadership. Misguided strategy which deprioritizes growth and shippers needs. I mean if you are going to copy Amazon at least copy their customer centricity. Tons of recent departures. People /HR org a constant disaster. Whiplash from the constant changes of messaging. Product org has a huge ego problem. And the pay is well below average for the caliber of talent they want to attract.
