Pros

There are a handful of people trying to do good work. They are, however, significantly hampered by the fact they are employed by Coople, where good work ends up in the bin, or by the time it reaches the user it has been destroyed to the point where it doesn't actually solve a problem. Quite the opposite in most cases.

Cons

Where to start? Total arrogance, laziness and a lack of in-depth understanding of user needs (from the top down pretty much everyone is clueless in how to effectively collect user feedback) means that the Coople platform doesn't reflect what their users require, rather than what the executives and product managers (with no design understanding) want it to do. I truly felt sorry for anyone who had to use it on a daily basis. Developers wants and needs are continually prioritised over the users and, in fact, they dictate what ends up being shipped (which isn't that much to be honest). The quality of the work is nearly always poor, in fact I lost count of the amount of times I was embarrassed to be associated with it. The most troubling aspect was the fact that some within management seemed generally uninterested in demanding a higher level of quality before any product work is delivered. Communication throughout the company is awful. They waste hours, days, weeks and even months trying to decide how to effectively communicate with other departments of the business. This may have made sense (but still would have been ineffective) in a company of 5000 plus, but Coople is no-where near that size (less than 200). It moves like a 100 year old multi-national, and people are still left in the dark when changes are made. Often you are left to fend for yourself, with your superiors completely disinterested in providing you with a framework in order to succeed. Far too many meetings are held where nothing is achieved. They nearly always descend into a free-for-all where someone will invariably speak up with a few choice buzzwords that mean absolutely nothing. Time management across the company is atrocious, and the laziness and procrastination is on another level. Speaking up is often valued over hard work, priorities move about like sand beneath your feet and the sheer amount of wasted effort is unbelievable. Throughout the rest of the organisation, a culture of backstabbing, fear and lies contributes to what is the most toxic culture I have ever witnessed in a place of work. Blame is handed around like pass the parcel at a chid's birthday party, and a good percentage of the staff seem thoroughly miserable to be there.

Pros

The pay is always fair, staff are always more than happy to help resolve issues and are very understanding should you have trouble with an employer. Great, fast and easy way to find work when you need it.

Cons

The strike system has some frustrating loopholes! You are required to notify them 24 hours ahead of a shift if you won’t be able to make it...or a strike will be applied to your account. Unfortunately, you can’t always expect to KNOW when you’re about to fall ill! You can appeal these decisions however.
