Payments Not Paid

Pros

The assignments I accepted were interesting.

Cons

I still have not been paid for work that was published on client websites 11 months ago. It doesn't matter how many times I write to them, they don't send a check, claiming some internal mixup. When I first started 2 years ago, payments were made quick and jobs were plentiful. One year ago, however, they went downhill and show zero respect toward their writers.

Pros

Seeming steady stream of work.

Cons

Though they constantly stress "transparency," do not have a comprehensive plan in place to pay freelancers. Expect to wait AT LEAST 45 days even though you'll turn in articles with 24-72 hours' notice. Massive confusion internally. You will likely not receive adequate answers to your questions. Emails will often be misspelled and sometimes barely in English. They will refer again and again to "working hard for you." Doing what, I don't know. I have not been paid in almost two months of working there, and will believe it when I see it. One step away from a SCAM, since they blame payment problems on "the system." HUH?
