Pros

Keeps you busy. Good looking projects

Cons

Micro manage and the owner is extremely hot headed and flyers off the handle all the time. Expected you to work exhausting hours and makes you feel quilts when you leave on time

Thank you for your insight, we appreciate both positive and critical feedback. We are proud of our award winning projects and happy our team is busy, this speaks to the health and prosperity of Costello as a company. While we are a consistently busy company, we also value work-life balance and encourage employees to keep open lines of communication with their supervisors if they are unable to work overtime. We are a family owned and hands on business, this means it is impossible to not have interactions with senior leadership. We take great pride in our ability to mentor and grow our team in their careers through direct communication and management. This hands on leadership style has given many employees the opportunity to progress quickly to levels of increasing responsibility. We wish you best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Great office location in Columbia. Understanding of personal/life events. Always busy, never bored because there's always work to be done. Very interesting and lucrative projects ongoing and forthcoming.

Cons

Management can be unresponsive as work get busy, especially during crucial phases of a project, which leads to being unable to communicate with them in a timely manner. Few (social) events that allow employees to interact consistently outside of the work environment.

Pros

Health insurance after 90 days. Lots of hours available to work if the job is behind which with this company it usually is.

Cons

No work life balance They don't do pay rates correctly on prevailing wage jobs for carpenters. They try to not pay carpenter rate all the time and pay labor rate for some hours even if you were not doing laborer work. They have you work 12-14 hours straight on a concrete pour and instead of having people who were doing minimal labor during the pour example washing truck wheels and directing traffic they have the guys doing the placement of concrete have to stay to finish up all the housekeeping. Very bad management. They also do not pay correct rates when you operate equipment or tie rebar. Pretend to care about safety only when important people are on site. They do not have a foreman for crews so there is no real direction for the craft workers.

Thank you for your review of Costello Construction. All feedback both positive or critical is good to receive so that we have an opportunity to address the issues raised. Costello Construction pays prevailing wages at required job sites based on the work performed by our employees on a 15 minute basis. This information is tracked and reported at the field level and reported to our payroll office so that employees can be paid the proper wages for work performed. If employees find discrepencies in this reporting they should immediately bring it to the attention of their supervisor who can research and if necessary rectify the error. As we are a busy company we are fortunate enough to be able to offer our team ample hours both regular and overtime. This is something that much of our team appreciate however if employees are unable to work overtime they should notify their Superintendent or Human Resources. At Costello Contruction we take Safety very seriously and in fact have a dedicated company Safety Site and Health Officer who evaluates our team training and site safety compliance. Additionally, we direct our team to "speak up" if they witness a safety violation so that we can immediately address and rectify the issue. As an employee of Costello Construction you have an experienced management team onsite and in our corporate office to assist you, we encourage our team to have open lines of communication with them so they can address concerns and issues in a timely fashion. We wish you the best in your future endeavors
