Cons

Before I started to work for Cosworth I was thinking that joining them would be the best thing to do in order to boost my career and get great experience in motorsport. In the end resulted to be a nightmare. When I did the interview I was pretty happy that the role was so diverse having the opportunity to get yourself into software and hardware, pretty much 50%-50%. Considering I am a hardware guy I thought that was a great opportunity to get some knowledge to make my self a better engineer. In reality the role ended up being 95% software support and 1% hardware support with no designing at all. The rest was bit miscellaneous. Having said that, the first thing my line manager told be was "Listen, we are flat out and we cant spend time with you" and that meant that I was pretty much on my own trying to software support customer in the aerodynamics world... As a result I was making mistakes as I was getting hardly any support from the senior side of the team and the worst thing was being thrown under the bus by my line manager when I customer spotted some fundamental mistakes. The interview was very misleading and I guess that it is pretty much the standard as the turnover was very high (people leaving after less than 6 months). Even customer made some jokes about it. The above was not the worst, this line manager was prbably the worst manager I have been working with so far. Not only was not supportive at all, but also he made very unappropiate jokes in regards of my nationality in front of me. I reported HR and let them know that wasn't acceptable. By the way, they don't offer good benefits and the salary is pretty basic.

Colleagues are knowledge and helpful. Working from home is easily facilitated and accepted. Equipment is adequate for the role.

Cons

Salary is low especially for the area. Not huge amounts of work to enable moving around. No flexible working arrangements. No bonus. The building itself leaves a lot to be desired.
