Decades of below the market salaries and unusually extensive onboarding process which includes over a month of unpaid work, has turned the company into an isolated silo. First wave of employees who left their PhD studies to found the company now occupies exec level positions. Second wave of employees who joined straight out of the university occupies line management positions. Literally everyone else, with a few notable exceptions, has joined the company directly after their graduation so there are only a handful of employees with experience from another company. Literally everyone is convinced that company's methods are superb compared to other companies, although they have no real experience or information to come to that conclusion. The result is an interesting sociological experiment in a parallel universe where a group of adolescents runs a high-tech company. Unfortunately the reality of the market and the growth, company has never adjusted to, is starting to shine through the growing cracks while the blind sighted management will not notice it before the experiment implodes.
