Pros

Legitimately cool product Lots of talented engineers Decent benefits

Cons

A new Senior Vice President was hired (reporting directly to the CEO) and almost immediately did a major reorganization of the entire tech side of the company. It is going very badly. Previously, the time that work would take was estimated by the engineers and timelines were set appropriately based on those estimates. Now the new Senior VP just pulls deadlines out of thin air and refuses to adjust them no matter how many times he's told that they're unrealistic.

First and foremost, we can’t agree with you more on the coolness of our products and the awesomeness of our engineers. We can also both confirm the leadership change < https://www.couchbase.com/press-releases/couchbase-appoints-cloud-and-database-veteran-gopi-duddi-as-senior-vice-president-of-engineering> and acknowledge the work and efforts underway to align the organization giving us the best chance to meet or exceed our FY23 strategic goals. Over the past several weeks, there’s been a lot of hard work, across a large portion of our team and with all leaders, to gather input on how to do just that. Balancing these inputs with a need for speed on execution is also required to deliver value to our customers in this very dynamic market within the timeframes expected. Sure we are shooting for the moon a bit and it feels like a stretch, but we know this team has the ability to do amazing things and are certain the change we seek is important. As well, these new ways of executing on our commitments should feel more comfortable the more we do them. Once we hit stride in this new delivery cadence, we might just find unexpected benefits as we do what we’ve always done well - attack hard problems, driven by customer outcomes. Thank you for your feedback and your contributions.

Pros

HR is quite active on Glassdoor, playing the saving grace. Please read their 5 star reviews for the "pros".

Cons

Like someone here clearly mentioned, we need more engineers than managers. There are too many managers, directors, sr. directors who are busy challenging each other, stepping into each other's territory, eventually ending up being counter-productive to the engineering teams. Loyalist culture is gradually taking root.
