Pros

- Meet some cool people - Team lunches - Ok pay for student

Cons

- Some people are lazy (including managers) and you usually put in more work than them - Strict break rules - Clear favouritism towards certain people - promotions are usually based on who you know, not how hard you work. - Hours can be long

Pros

People and Environment is really fun and enjoyable to work in and be a part of to learn and evolve. Staff discounts are okay especially when 10% discount days are on. Pays meh but usually goes up every year. Can be cross trained and gain more pay by doing so if you push management for it. Extra hours are almost always available if you ask for it depending on dept you want to work in.

Cons

Long hours for what can be viewed as low pay. Usually understaffed in multiple departments which means you may have to be multi trained and dragged across in tough times.. particularly online/checkouts dept depending on the store you work in or want to work in. Lots of workload which makes you feel overworked, under-appreciated alongside a lack of communication/staff makes it hard to handle for a long time therefore frequent arrivals and departures of staff within 1 or 2 years. Managers can be very 2 faced and give you unnecessary headaches/pressure especially when misunderstandings occur or trying to force you to take roles you didn't want or ask for. (But thats life) Store managers can be very frustrating and stubborn to work with. Lack of manager/supervisor opportunities in store level and promotions in head office which means you float/transfer across multiple stores in hopes to be acknowledged and promoted to head office. Lots of changes being put through at the moment or in discussion which makes it difficult to justify working within Countdown/Woolworths for a long time.
