Leadership team needs to own their failures or the College will close

Pros

Nice people, some flexibility, beautiful campus.

Cons

Leadership is inexperienced and immature. There is a major lack of trust between the hardworking teams and their leaders here. Women struggle to grow into leadership positions because the institution lacks leaders who are willing and capable of mentorship. This place often feels like a "boys club."

Pros

Small, intimate community: great faculty and staff relationships Students are hardworking

Cons

The administration is very inexperienced. The president has little leadership experience and most VPs are just selected based on their involvement in the PCA denomination and not based on skill or experience. Apparently there is a floor in one of the residence halls called "Ghetto" and the administration has yet to do anything about changing the insensitive name. Even the president, an alumn of this hall, has supposedly fought to keep this name. The college hires alumns almost exclusively. Students are disrespectul to the campus facilities. It feels like the campus is year-round summer camp for high schoolers. There have been several cases where animal carcasses (including raccoons, pigs, and deer parts) were used in pranks between residence halls. The current strategic plan is laughable. It seems to be a fluid document that is looking to solve symptoms of immediate problems without addressing longstanding institutional issues or future enrollment conundrums. Diversity in both the student and faculty demographic is non existent. Several directors, vice presidents, and assistant directors have left in the past year alone.

Pros

Worthy mission. Many wonderful colleagues. Intellectually-stimulating campus. Beautiful mountaintop views.

Cons

Top leadership lacking competency, transparency, humility, trust. Concerns/input from employees not welcome by all administrators. Often a difficult place for women and for people of color.
