I worked at Cox Automotive full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

VinSolutions (of Cox Automotive) has a great culture, and it's full of other very talented developers. The company as a whole treats it's employees extremely well, good benefits, good work/home balance.

    Cons

As someone who worked at VinSolutions (a Business Unit of Cox), my perception was that Cox in large part was the biggest problem at VinSolutions. My team worked with multiple other sister companies, and due to a lot of unecessary politics it was hard to figure out what the future looked like and we were expected to turn on a dime based off of decisions made be people that were largely uninformed of what our team was doing. VinSolutions and by extension Cox had a track record of assuring it's employees that various business changes were just organizational and in no way would affect anyone negatively, and then guess what, all of the sudden it's affecting people negatively. People would get laid off, or they'd have to reapply for their jobs for a smaller pool of people. I'd basically come to looked at these assurances as warnings.

I worked at Cox Automotive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Unlimited PTO was just added and depending on your manager you are able to work remotely some.

    Cons

No real job security. They have layoffs every year. No loyalty or commitment to their employees, it is all about their bottom line. For a company this big they should have better insurance. The insurance is not good and it is a little pricey. All teams are not treated equally. Some teams seem to have unlimited budgets and their team members are given opportunities for advanced training while others are not given opportunities for learning. Poor communication and unqualified upper management in some areas.
