Pros

I worked with wonderful people at both locations, making it feel like a little family.

Cons

The company did not take COVID19 precautions seriously. Was a very negative, disoriented environment from upper management. Covid19 guidelines were put onto the employees to create and implement for our safety, which was met with disappointment from upper management when it didn't look right. We even had to fight for our right to put mask signs on each of our entrances. One of the worst experiences I have ever had as an employee. Got talked down to by our CEO. Was told by said CEO that depression is not real, and that he has seen impoverished children happier playing with an "empty water bottle for a toy". Yeah, soak that in. If you want a old white man in charge stuck in the 90's belittling your manager and hurting team moral, this is the job for you! Jokes. I will never again enjoy that company. PAY YOUR BARISTAS A LIVING WAGE. My managers and team members have always been a delight, it is the "district manager" and CEO who need a harsh reality check.

Pros

Local business with a good opportunity to learn barista skills Closed at 8pm

Cons

Training was extremely minimal and lacking. Owner ran the business like a big corporation and didn't seem to personally care about their employees or their wellbeing. A number of employees had pay issues and some never received promised raises. I was told to make sure that I scrutinize my paychecks and keep track of my pay to ensure I receive everything as promised. There was no room for advancement or management opportunities unless everybody seemed to quit (which is how I was hired on) A guest told the owner he needed to hire "more pretty girls" and he replied in kind by instructing his hiring staff to hire more females. Staff was clearly very unhappy with company but enjoyed the coffee atmosphere (and getting paid on occasion) too much to leave. Overall it was a very unhappy and toxic workplace.
