I worked at Crowd Surf for less than a year

    Pros

You get to work on well known artists marketing and social media, laid back office, casual dress code, everyone comes in around 10 am

    Cons

If you really want a job or to be noticed, you have to make yourself known. Volunteer for everything and be sure to always ask to tag along to events that aren't within your regular intern hours.

I have been working at Crowd Surf

    Pros

You will be paid every day for work completed. The weekly bonus and happy hour bonus are a plus.

    Cons

I honestly think Crowdsurf is one of the better companies where you can find transcription work online. The learning curve is not steep at all, the quality of the audio is usually good, and the pay appears to be consistent with most of the other transcription companies I have come across. My key concerns are: i. that the bonus is not always paid consistently as it should be, and this could be really trying if you put in the hours for the pay. ii. There doesn't appear to be a clear and effective channel of communication with management. iii. On some days, there is almost no work.

I have been working at Crowd Surf for more than 3 years

    Pros

Hours are flexible when they actually have work and the software isn't glitching up.

    Cons

They haven't increased payment in at least three years, but they HAVE added extra requirements in order to get your full payment, which effectively makes their pay rates lower each year than it was the previous. They have numerous software problems and glitches that will destroy your work, which you will not get paid for no matter how much time you put into it. They often pay bonuses several days later than they promise. Overall it paints a picture of a company that is struggling to stay afloat.

I have been working at Crowd Surf for less than a year

    Pros

I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 solely because there is almost always work available. Only once have I logged on just to find no work opportunities available.

    Cons

I did tons of research on CrowdSurf before applying. I was hired and incredibly excited. It seems the average salary was 6-8 an hour (which is better than nothing, especially since I was just starting off). This is beyond false. If you are detail oriented and aim for perfect accuracy, you’ll probably make three dollars an hour, max. Most of the time (and this was after weeks and weeks of constant practice, I was lucky to make more than 2 dollars an hour. This makes sense considering that anyone who passes their exam can work for money with little no past experience or education. But still... 2 dollars an hour? I know some people who claimed to be able to make 25 a day on average. Some even 50. This is false advertising. Unless you have experience with transcription, this will be a nightmare. You’ll work hard for little reward. If you are simply looking for transcription experience, this is a great way to go! If you’re looking for real work... Don’t bother.

I worked at Crowd Surf part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work when you want, make a few extra dollars if you can type fast, usually always work available

    Cons

Incessant technical problems, support is rude, ignores workers, low quality audio, a million "guidelines" to memorize, your work is judged by other workers not by company; I was banned from their platform with zero notice due to, in their words, too many tasks marked "poor" or "fraud". The truth is, my quality score dropped drastically from one day to the next. I had not had any rejections or issues for at least a year before this and they never withheld my pay for any reason. I was never once contacted by them with these concerns until after I reached out to them, and I still don't have all the answers. I'm an experienced typist and I honestly think I was completing so much work that it set off some kind of flag, but they can't bear to be smarter than their computers. I'm going to keep pursuing this solely on principle, and if this happens to anyone else, you should too.

I have been working at Crowd Surf

    Pros

Plenty of work on CrowdSurf. com. Not only that, since you made an account on WorkMarket, you can also review jobs on there as well. You get paid daily on work market.

    Cons

The Hit that is available is okay. However, some have very loud noise in the background. You have to turn up the volume just to hear what the person is saying. A couple of times, my ear started to hurt because of the static noise and the speaker talking. The review score is a joke. Once you have submitted the Hit, you will get a review score. I thought that it was a computer who is checking our work. Turns out that it is other CrowdSurf workers who are grading your work. Some of the grades that I have got back from my work have negatively impacted my quality score. You have to maintain a 3.5 to stay employed with them. Because of this, whoever been grading my quality of work has pushed me down to 2.9. When starting out, you can not dispute it unless you get promoted or did 100 or 200 HIT. Thus taking the risk of maintaining your quality score by doing 1 or 2 hundred HIT. Make a lot of mistake on the HITS and you will be fired.
