Pros

There are a handful of really great people in various departments. I would only recommend applying for the design or creative departments. They are the only ones who seem to treat their people with any respect or dignity.

Cons

A bunch of manipulative and conniving ladder climbers. It's like high school. Department heads don't get along, and you'd better pick a side or watch out. The hours are incredibly long. Since the network specializes in Christmas, good luck getting any time off around the holidays. No concern for their employees mental health at all, and people who continue to be problematic are still there.

A Micromanagement Oasis

Pros

-Private company -You can find incredibly nice and genuine people here -Summer Fridays -Work-Life balance -OK benefits

Cons

Crown Media is essentially your average TV media company, marked by an outdated culture & archaic management structure. The main takeaway here is that Crown is just stuck in the past, there is very little innovative or exciting about Crown. Like most older TV media companies, career advancement is a slow and belaboring prospect, be ready to play a ton of office politics. There is also severe micromanagement at seemingly all levels, leaving little room for self-expression, creativity & autonomy. Be ready to do everything by the book, and have every little thing you do watched over. There is a strong reluctance to transform and move towards the future. New ideas are often met with much resistance, as upper management clings to the old values of the past, impeding any future growth. What's also concerning is that young people are just not watching Hallmark either, and no wonder... the network is enshrouded in old, conservative values that are failing to take a hold on the youngest generations. The network has no culture tie in to these generations either, this all goes back to the way the company is ran. There is little room for help if the innovative people in the company are not listened to.

Pros

Nice benefits. Summer Fridays May-Sept.

Cons

Creative department has the all time lowest morale of any place I've ever worked, due in equal parts to zero opportunity for growth, low quality of work, and lack of leadership. Physical space is a cubicle farm where it is all but impossible to be productive. Corporate culture where gossip and backstabbing are rewarded. Micromanagement from the top down.
