Pros

Potentially a good starting point for entry level candidates as you are exposed to a wide range of processes and projects within the sector. Lovely offices in London and Apsley.

Cons

-Low salary in comparison to their competitors. -Work culture - it is a hierarchal organisation and had experienced that it was very popularity based and cliquey. The environment serves more extroverted individuals and does not foster an environment or provide the same opportunities for those who are not as favoured. - Lack of communication and poor management. Communication from the company was poor regarding layoffs and structural changes. Communication was also poor from managers regarding performance and development and I had received little to no support. -The junior positions are admin/process led. If you would like to build your technical capacity this may not be the job for you.

WORST EMPLOYER EVER!

Pros

Salary in euros (if you are lucky enough to get your monthly salary in 3 months!)

Cons

Well, where do I begin? The project manager and director are heavily involved in lobbying and they show little concern for the well-being of the employees only concern with their own interests. They seem to believe that everyone would want to work at DAI regardless of how poorly they are treated. The project manager's communication skills are abysmal. Even though she is aware that salaries are issued monthly, she never sees fit to inform the employees, acting as if it's a surprise every time. The IPA projects that DAI is supposed to implement for the purpose of teaching compliance to the government seem to be poorly managed, indicating a lack of understanding of project management principles. They are simply dreadful! Additionally, there is a prevalent issue of workplace bullying.

Pros

The company created a truly great culture. Employees stick around longer because of the colleagues they work with on the projects, both domestically and internationally.

Cons

The company does not have programs geared towards the growth of managers of people. Sometimes the employees report to a manager that does not help with the career trajectory.

Pros

DAI is a good start but leave after 2-3 years!

Cons

Rude & passive aggressive managers and lots of gossiping in the teams. Micromanaging managers. Hard to move up. Low salaries. Poor management. Constant Reorganizations. Long hours of work and leadership do not appreciate any work done. No overtime. Salaries are not annually adjusted for inflation. Under-resourced teams in which you have to do someone's job.

Pros

Pays a bit more than government or other dev sector organization's in Pakistan.

Cons

Company culture is based on fear and hierarchy. Hiring Pakistani talent on specialist contracts versus manager and lying about compensation rates. No growth opportunity, no training budgets and no proper seating available for senior professionals. In the USA specialist. had only 2-3 years of experience versus Pakistan. No orientation, no team building for corporate culture. Military style culture, employees encouraged to spy on each other. No real represetation and inclusion and the European and American employees had racist and condesending attitude towards other regional headquater staff such as Pakistan, Nigeria etc. Funding cuts inevitable.

Pros

Great place to start out at; flexible work schedule; work life balance

Cons

Boring work day - to - day for junior employees. If you stick around long enough you might do something cool. Pay is terrible; the annual compensation cycle is a joke; some managers clearly have no idea what they're doing.

Pros

great people around you, meaningful work in development. good for building experience and learning quickly.

Cons

promotions and raises are so difficult to get, even if you're going above and beyond because they refuse to promote entry-level associates. they'll often hire managers from outside the company. you have to teach yourself a lot, not a lot of support for incoming hires. management is mostly wealthy and white.

Pros

Extremely passionate, devoted and interesting people who go the extra mile for their clients, beneficiaries and colleagues. Contributing to great causes Great opportunities

Cons

Complex structure Heavy workload Like in many businesses, success, progression and enjoyment may be limited in cases of a lack of attention from managers to their team, which itself may be limited by a lack of acknowledgment of value of effective management from more senior managers (not across the board, but there are cases).
