Pros

Good place to learn technical skills. Some really good younger staff.

Cons

Expectations of long unpaid hours, not an ideal place for growth in diverse staff, outdated bonus structure that appears to value the wrong things, lack of open communication, low salaries for those who actually do the work, lots of favoritism for those that sucked up to principals and put down younger staff, lack QC of work so not much to room to grow from mistakes, rather there seemed to be reward for those that blamed others for mistakes.

Pros

1. Challenging technical work. 2. Good place to learn the fundamentals of transportation consulting. 3. Solid reputation in the industry. 4. Excellent junior and mid level staff.

Cons

1. Each office operates as a franchise. Limits ability to deliver on larger proposals and projects. 2. Health benefits are robust but employee portion is very high. 3. Senior management tends to focus on achieving next week's financial objectives at the expense of next month's or next year's. Hampers long term company growth.

I appreciate the feedback. At DKS we are very proud of the exceptionally skilled professionals who make up our staff. We attract exceptional talent because we offer them opportunities to work on interesting and challenging projects that make a difference for the communities we live in. With the adoption of a company-wide strategic plan in 2013, DKS has begun to address the concerns regarding independent office operations and improve collaboration among our locations. We are excited to have many of our professional staff participating in critical strategic initiatives including creating a uniform approach to marketing, consistent rewards for company performance, better communication of our Employee Stock Ownership Program, and redefinition of our career path. We have also revamped our medical insurance plan to introduce a high deductible option with a fully paid premium for employees and a Health Savings Account.
