Thanks for this review. Lots to consider for us here.
- We are trying hard to bring the company together. We certainly don't want a divide. We do provide a lot of car parking and have recently expanded that further. It is hard to accommodate everyone though on some days. All electric cars are welcome in the charge bays, not just senior management. I've been working at this for 30 years and I'm in the motor industry so I don't think having an expensive car is worth referencing though.
- Sick pay was fully addressed at the start of the Covid-19 crisis and now allows people with sickness to be off with no penalites.
- Yes we employ young people, and we are proud of it. As an employer it is our responsibility to ensure that young people and apprentices get a chance to build a career and quite a few have done that here and moved up the ranks over the years. Nothing to do with saving money, it is about our desire to get new people into work and into our industry.
- We love new projects and trying to make profit, I'm not going to deny it.
- The point about the office was right. The design was all wrong and the remodel didn't work. We have since reversed it and emptied the space. We have also leased another building next door to create a whole new environment for some of the team with tons of space and light.
- I personally believe that salary information is private, but I'm a traditionalist in this regard. We feel that we regularly review pay and hope that we keep individuals satisfied in this regard where we can.
- It is fair to say that the management structure lacks a hierarchy that allows obvious career progression. However, wherever possible we seek to promote from within and bump people up as much as possible allowing us to then employ more young people to get them started.
- It is true to say that after 10 years service we give our employees a nice watch as a gift amd after 20 years a family holiday anywhere in the world they want to go. It isn't shares and it isn't going to be, but we think the gesture is well received by recipeients, of which there have been a lot in our 30+ years trading.
In summary the review made some good points. We are keen to try and make our staff happy, but it is very hard to please everyone all of the time and sometimes we will get it wrong. We will continue to try though, and reviews do help to notice the things and perceptions that we miss.
