Pros

The attorneys at Daley & Heft provide invaluable training, support, and hands-on experience. The Associates are assigned a generous case-load, which permits variety of work, exposure to different legal issues, and enables the billable requirement to easily be met. The firm works with its Associates to ensure they are not overwhelmed by the case-load, and they offer tremendous flexibility to ensure work-life balance. Additionally, they generously compensate for business Associates bring to the firm, much more so than other firms, in my experience. Of course, you are accountable to your court calendar, which is standard in civil litigation. The support staff is also wonderful to work with. I am surprised by the prior review. While it was expected that emails be printed, this was to ensure the files were complete. Further, requiring Associates to print all correspondence does not support the allegation that partners lie to their clients; quite to the contrary, the partners want to maintain a clear record of communication with all parties (hence printing emails for the file).

Cons

None. I loved the firm but civil litigation was not a good fit for me.

Pros

Partners don't pay attention to their cases so associates get a lot of good experience, because they're doing literally everything on every one of their cases.

Cons

The firm pays as though it is still 1960. All the partners are stuck in that year too. (Notice they're all white men!) The firm requires that all employees print all emails. Some of the partners refuse to even use email. The partners are not involved, at all, in any of their cases and pretty much make it up as they go along. Often, the partners will lie to their clients when something goes wrong, to make it seem like it's not the partner's fault for not paying attention. All the partners are sexist and racist. Several of them make offensive comments regularly. You will never make partner (no one else ever will, they're happy with the 15 white men they have). DO. NOT. WORK. HERE.
