Former Employee
Pros
Probably much better for a Personal Lines CSR. Also, they have a separate Trucking Ins. team. You may be fine in either of those departments. But, PL makes up 80-90% of their book. I really dont think they would have a Commercial Lines team if their PL clients didnt demand it. If youre Commercial, avoid.
Cons
* 401k - only eligible after 1 year+ of employment depending on hire date. * PTO - VERY slow accrual in 1st bracket. Additionally, they claim to pay you 40 hrs for 37.5 hours worked. This CAN be true. But, if you take even 1 hour of PTO in any week, you are required to work the full 40. If you dont, you will be charged the balance in PTO. I personally was charged 3.5 hours of PTO for a 1 hr. Dr. apt. prior to this being explained. So, dont count on any real vacation until years down the road in bracket 2. * Applied TAM Software - outdated process, an incomplete process manual made up by past CSRs because they have no upper management with Commercial Lines knowledge except for the owners. Slow servers, spotty internet, frequent outages which slows your process. * No access to Adobe .PDF editor - so, if you want to add or delete a page, you must rescan the entire packet to yourself. Want to be Professional and remove the Commission line from your carriers proposal? (which you have to use because they have no tools to create a DSI proposal) You must print the proposal, white-out the Commission line, then rescan it to yourself. * In my experience, most carriers & brokerages close the office early on the day before a holiday. Not all, but it seems to be a widely practiced industry perk. DSI does not do this. * You will be expected to work for free, after hours and on weekends, in order to maintain your book. If you take a day off for any reason, there is no process in place to help you. You will come back & be 8 hours behind in your process of emails, voice mails, cert requests, renewals, and everything else. There will be no help from other team members barring a walk-in client that needs immediate assistance. * The book is split up among team members by Total Premium, with no regard to accounts that are Auto-Renew vs. E&S. In any given month, one may have 2-3 pages of renewals, while another has 3-4 pages. Lastly, there is no tool or process which allows you to pull your entire year's book. So, you have no way of planning a vacation around a "light" month. You are expected to maintain your book 30 days in advance. But, the following months renewal list is usually only generated & distributed in the last week of the prior month.
