This company struggles in a market where competitors are thriving
Pros
There are some truly dedicated individuals that have a strong sense of camaraderie and support for one another. The company is willing to pay for training and offers a tuition reimbursement program for college courses and some certifications and licenses. Benefits are above average for individuals with two options for medical insurance.
Cons
Long chain for approvals means deadlines are regularly missed and information is lost or confused as requests for approval pass through too many managers. Mish-mash of operating systems and computer hardware causes frequent workflow hassles as people have to be retrained for moving from Windows to Linux (or back) or old computers have to be rebuilt with spare parts. Recent attempts at cost-cutting in response to a 2-year struggle in profitability have resulted in workforce reduction and frequent changes in department leadership. Because of this instability and an inability to offer wage increases for the past 2 years, many very experienced people have left. Other machine shops can sell their combined years of experience, but Davis cannot. Revolving door with hires and terminations. Medical coverage quickly becomes expensive when adding dependents.
