In Q3 2023, Davra laid off a large chunk of engineering staff. This was due to a pattern of failure to secure contracts after preliminary engineering work had already been delivered.
There was no special compensation package provided, only the legal minimum. This meant that employees that joined less than 2 years prior were dumped into a volatile tech market empty handed.
There was no warning other than the legal minimum. Staff all-hands mentioned lost business, but the scale of this was not revealed until the layoffs were.
To add insult to injury, senior employees and management of one team went on a work trip to Vegas 1 or 2 months before layoffs were announced. That entire team was laid off other than those who made the trip to Vegas.
6 months after the layoffs, I reached out to some old colleagues who were let go to find out if any management at Davra had reached out to them to offer empathy or a human-to-human chat free from the contraints of employment.
